TH14 Ranked Base #24: Multi-Compartment Defense Built Around Core Control

TH14 Ranked Layout #24 uses a central Town Hall surrounded by a wide multi-compartment defensive network. Looking at the actual layout first, the design does not seem interested in creating one giant damage zone. Instead, the important defenses are spread across several pockets, forcing the raid to deal with pressure in stages.

That approach suits Ranked play. Some outside percentage may be available, particularly around the upper side, but the more valuable route through the center remains heavily contested.

The Town Hall anchors the strongest defensive area

The Town Hall sits inside the primary core, where several wall lines separate it from the perimeter.

What makes this placement useful is the amount of defensive value that remains outside the immediate Town Hall compartment. Infernos, Air Defenses, X-Bows, and other threats are positioned in neighboring sections rather than being stacked around one building.

So even if one central pocket eventually falls, the defense does not necessarily collapse with it.

This gives Layout #24 a more gradual defensive character. It appears designed to weaken an attacking force over several engagements rather than hoping for one dramatic stop.

Multiple compartments are meant to disturb formation

The wall structure is probably the most important part of the base.

There are many small and medium sections, with several targets becoming available whenever troops cross into a new area. That can stretch an attacking formation across neighboring compartments.

From the defender's perspective, this is valuable.

A Yeti or Bowler Smash is far more threatening when tanks, heroes, and supporting troops stay together. If the layout pulls those units onto slightly different routes, defensive buildings gain additional time while shared spell value becomes less efficient.

Queen Charge Hybrid faces the same underlying defensive idea: losing one pocket does not automatically create a clean route through the entire village.

Air and Inferno pressure stays distributed

The Air Defenses form staggered coverage around the core, while the Inferno Towers operate as separate high-value anchors.

That spacing helps the layout avoid one obvious weakness: several major threats being neutralized at the same time.

Against Dragons or LavaLoon, one air-defense zone may remain active even after another part of the base has started to weaken. This allows defensive pressure to continue deeper into the raid rather than disappearing after the opening phase.

The Infernos serve a similar purpose against ground formations. Each section can remain dangerous on its own.

The top edge gives percentage, but not full control

The top edge appears to be the most approachable part of Layout #24.

That may sound like a weakness, but for Ranked defense there is some logic behind it. Allowing relatively easy outside percentage can encourage troops to spread or spend valuable time away from the central objective.

The real defensive danger comes when that opening becomes too clean.

If a wide formation stays perfectly organized, several neighboring compartments can come under pressure together. But if troops begin splitting—which this layout seems designed to encourage—the attacker may gain percentage while losing concentration for the harder central phase.

That tension is probably one of the base's more interesting features.

Why Layout #24 fits Ranked defense

The strength of TH14 Ranked Base #24 is that it tries to influence the whole raid instead of simply hiding the Town Hall.

The central objective demands commitment, outer buildings create percentage decisions, staggered Air Defenses preserve pressure, and the compartment network encourages troop separation.
