TH8 Ranked Base number 6 – Layered Diamond Defense and Pathing Analysis
This TH8 Ranked base uses a neat diamond-style structure, but the layout is more interesting than the symmetry first suggests. The Town Hall is kept inside the lower-middle section, while several defensive compartments sit above, beside, and below it. Instead of giving an attacker one straight route through the village, the base appears designed to make troops repeatedly change targets as they move toward the center.
The Town Hall placement is a good example. It is protected by walls and nearby defenses, yet it is not buried in a completely isolated box. That may actually help the layout because troops approaching it still have several competing targets around them. A Giant group that enters from the top, for instance, could be pulled toward defensive buildings before reaching the Town Hall, while Wizards or Archers behind them stop to clear storages and other structures.
The wall structure plays a big role here. There are multiple diamond-shaped and rectangular compartments connected through narrow areas. Opening the first wall does not expose the entire interior. Ground armies are likely to need another breach—or spend time walking around a compartment—before moving into the next defensive section.
That is where the base may create some awkward pathing.
Defenses are also spread rather than stacked into one obvious cluster. Cannons and Archer Towers cover several approaches, while Wizard Towers and Mortars sit in positions where they can punish troops once they move deeper. Against a Giant-and-Wizard attack, this could become troublesome if the supporting Wizards group together behind the tanks. Splash damage only needs a few good hits to change the attack quickly.
The storages seem to be doing more than simply filling space. In a Ranked defense, protecting individual resource buildings is usually less important than making the attacker waste time and health. Gold and Elixir Storages have plenty of hit points, so placing them near important defensive areas can act like a buffer. While troops are working through a storage, nearby defenses keep firing.
Air defense also appears reasonably protected. The main anti-air buildings are not sitting right on the perimeter, which means Dragons or Balloons generally need to move into the wall structure before removing them. Archer Towers add another layer of coverage, reducing the chance of one completely safe air approach.
There are some trade-offs. The symmetry makes the overall pattern easier to understand after a careful look, and a player who creates a strong funnel from one end of the base may be able to keep most troops moving in the same direction. A few outside buildings can also provide straightforward percentage.
Even with that, the defensive idea makes sense for TH8 Ranked play. The layout relies on **layered compartments, protected central objectives, storage-based delays, overlapping splash damage, and troop pathing that can punish an imprecise entry**. It is not trying to look unbeatable. Instead, it appears built to make a clean, controlled attack harder to maintain from the first wall break to the final buildings.
