There is a fairly clear idea behind this Builder Hall 8 number 05 base: make the center expensive to reach without leaving one obvious weak side. The walls form a compact, almost square defensive shell, but the interior is split into several smaller sections. That matters more than it may seem. Troops can get through the first wall and still find themselves choosing between different targets instead of moving neatly toward the Builder Hall.

The Builder Hall sits slightly right of center, surrounded by defensive buildings rather than tucked against an outside edge. I like that choice here. An attacker coming directly for the Hall is likely to enter the range of several defenses along the way, while approaching from another side usually means spending more time clearing structures before reaching it. Neither route looks completely comfortable.

A lot of the pressure comes from the middle-left portion of the base. Several heavier defenses are packed into this area, creating what appears to be the main punishment zone for ground troops. If Giants, Battle Machines or other front-line units push through that section first, they may absorb fire from multiple directions at once. Supporting troops can then become exposed if they hesitate behind a wall or switch onto a different target.

The Multi Mortar toward the lower-right section is another useful piece of the setup. Its position allows it to contribute without sitting right on the edge where it could be removed immediately. The same idea applies to other important defenses spread through the core: the attacker generally has to enter the base before getting clean access to them.

Air attacks have their own problem. The Air Bombs on the right side may initially look exposed, but that placement can actually complicate a right-side entry. Flying troops committed there have to deal with anti-air pressure early, while going around from the opposite direction gives the rest of the base more time to fire. Other air-targeting defenses inside the walls help prevent the entire village from depending on one building.

I also wouldn't ignore the outside structures. Buildings at the top, bottom and corners create small pathing distractions. A troop that drifts toward an exterior target can move several tiles away from the main group, and suddenly an attack that looked organized begins coming into the core in pieces. That kind of separation is often more valuable than simply adding another layer of walls.

The base does have a downside. It is quite compact. Once a strong group reaches the center with enough health remaining, several important targets are close together. A well-prepared funnel could therefore turn the density of the base against it. There also isn't a huge amount of distance between the outer wall and the Builder Hall, so this design depends heavily on its defenses doing meaningful damage during the approach.

Still, the overall defensive quality looks well suited to BH8. The base relies on overlapping fire, compartment-based pathing and a protected central zone rather than pretending one defense can stop everything. Its main job appears to be making attackers lose formation and health before they reach the Hall. When the troop pathing goes even slightly wrong, this setup should be able to punish that mistake quickly.
