Supercell is preparing a small but potentially important nerf to the Thrower in Clash of Clans. The balance changes are expected to arrive early next week, and players who regularly use Thrower armies may notice a difference, especially in Ranked and Clan Wars.
Why Is the Thrower Being Nerfed?
The reason appears to be fairly simple: Thrower armies have been performing a little too well.
According to Supercell, Throwers have appeared in roughly one-third of attacks over the past few weeks. Their three-star rate has also been noticeably higher than the overall average.
In Ranked, Thrower armies are achieving around a 50% three-star rate, compared with an overall rate of about 41%. In regular Clan Wars, the difference is similar: roughly 64% for Thrower attacks versus 56% overall.
Those numbers may explain why Supercell decided to step in.
What Is Changing?
The first adjustment affects movement speed:
Movement Speed: 18 → 16
It does not look dramatic on paper, but a slower Thrower could make long attacks slightly harder to manage. On wider bases, troops may spend more time moving between compartments, which could create more time-fail situations.
Damage is also being reduced at the highest levels:
Level 3 DPS: 230 → 220 Level 4 DPS: 240 → 230
A 10 DPS reduction is fairly modest, but when several Throwers are attacking together, the lost damage begins to add up.
Will Throwers Still Be Good?
Most likely, yes.
Supercell has made it clear that the goal is not to push Throwers completely out of the meta. Instead, the change appears designed to make them slightly less dominant and give other army compositions more breathing room.
For base builders, this could make layouts with long pathing, separated compartments and strong defensive coverage a little more effective against Thrower attacks.
We will probably need to see the update in real battles before judging its full impact. Small balance changes sometimes barely affect the meta; other times, they completely change which armies players prefer.
For now, Thrower users may simply need cleaner funnels, better timing and a little more attention to the clock.
