How to Unlock the 6th Builder Fast in Clash of Clans

Unlocking the sixth Builder is one of the best long-term upgrades you can make in Clash of Clans. It may not feel as exciting as unlocking a new troop or Hero, but the benefit adds up quickly. One extra Builder means faster Hero levels, stronger defenses, and fewer moments where your storages are full but everyone is already busy.

The sixth Builder is called B.O.B. To unlock him, you need to reach Builder Hall 9 and complete four B.O.B Control tasks. Once everything is finished, B.O.B permanently moves to the Home Village. O.T.T.O remains in the Builder Base, so you still keep two Builders working there.

Trying to max every Builder Hall before moving forward can make this process painfully slow. A focused rush is usually the better approach.

Understand the Four B.O.B Tasks

Before planning your upgrades, make sure you understand the requirements. You need to complete all three Gear Ups in the Home Village, raise one Builder Base troop to level 18, upgrade one Builder Base defense to level 9, and reach a combined Hero level of 45.

The Hero total includes both the Battle Machine and Battle Copter. You must also reach Builder Hall 9 before you can complete B.O.B Control.

Rush to Builder Hall 9 Carefully

If your main goal is unlocking B.O.B, there is little reason to spend months upgrading every Wall and low-priority defense.

Place the buildings required for the next Builder Hall, improve your storages and offensive buildings, and continue moving upward. This does not mean ignoring everything. You still need a usable farming army and enough storage capacity to afford expensive upgrades.

The Clock Tower is also worth improving. Its boost may not look impressive after one use, but activating it regularly can remove a noticeable amount of waiting time.

Builder Hall 6 is an important checkpoint because it unlocks the second Builder Base stage and O.T.T.O. From that point, one Builder can continue pushing toward Builder Hall 9 while the other works on Heroes or task-related buildings.

Complete the Gear Ups Early

The Gear Up task is easy to forget because the upgrades happen in the Home Village.

You need to Gear Up a Cannon, Archer Tower, and Mortar. Their usual requirements are:

Cannon level 7 and Double Cannon level 4 Archer Tower level 10 and Builder Base Archer Tower level 6 Mortar level 8 and Multi Mortar level 8

Prepare the required buildings in both villages before sending the Master Builder across the sea. Otherwise, you may finally reach Multi Mortar level 8 and discover that your Home Village Mortar is still several upgrades behind.

Gear Ups occupy the Master Builder, so completing them after unlocking O.T.T.O may help keep your Builder Base progressing.

Use the Multi Mortar for Two Requirements

This is probably the simplest way to save time.

You already need the Multi Mortar at level 8 to complete the Mortar Gear Up. Once that is finished, upgrade the same Multi Mortar to level 9.

That single upgrade completes the level 9 defense requirement. It is usually much faster than choosing another defense and raising it from a lower level.

Focus on One Troop

Do not upgrade every Builder Base troop evenly. Pick whichever troop is already closest to level 18 and focus your Builder Elixir on it.

The Hog Glider may be convenient on a rushed account because it starts at a relatively high level. However, if another troop is already level 16 or 17, that will probably be the quicker option.

Keep the Star Laboratory active whenever possible. An idle Laboratory is simply lost progress.

Upgrade Both Heroes Efficiently

Reaching a combined Hero level of 45 is often the longest part of the grind.

Both Hero Machines count, so combinations such as Battle Machine 30 and Battle Copter 15 will work. So will 25 and 20, or any other combination that reaches 45.

Do not automatically push one Hero all the way to level 30. Compare the cost and duration of the next upgrade for both machines. Alternating between them may be cheaper and faster.

Complete your daily Star Bonus, collect the Elixir Cart before it fills, and use the Clock Tower whenever the free boost is available. Save Runes, Hammers, and Builder Star Jars for expensive late-stage upgrades rather than short timers.

B.O.B is not an overnight unlock. Still, a focused player will reach the sixth Builder much sooner than someone who upgrades everything equally. Once he arrives in the Home Village, that extra Builder begins paying back the effort every single day.
