TH13 Farming Base #8: Layered-Square Defense Built Around Resource Protection

TH13 Farming Layout #8 uses a layered-square structure with the Town Hall protected close to the center, behind the main storage line. Looking at the actual base, the defensive idea is easy to understand: instead of concentrating every valuable resource in one pocket, the layout spreads storages through several compartments and makes each section support the next.

That feels appropriate for a farming base. The goal is not necessarily to save every building. It is to make a raider spend more time and strength each time they move from one valuable section to another.

The storage line adds protection around the Town Hall

The Town Hall sits inside the deeper defensive area, while Gold and Elixir Storages occupy several surrounding compartments.

Those storages are useful for more than holding resources. Their high hit points can keep troops occupied while nearby X-Bows, Inferno Towers, Scattershots, and other defenses continue dealing damage.

More importantly, the loot is separated.

If one storage pocket falls, another valuable section still remains behind a different wall line. That creates a defensive tradeoff that suits farming well: the base may surrender some resources, but it tries to avoid losing everything through the same breakthrough.

Layered squares create repeated defensive barriers

The wall structure is probably the most important feature of Layout #8.

Several square and rectangular compartments surround the center, creating repeated transitions between the perimeter and the deeper resource area. Troops that clear one section still need to change direction or cross another wall before reaching the next important target.

That extra movement can quietly create a lot of time pressure.

If the attacking formation begins to split, the effect becomes even stronger. One group may remain occupied by a storage while another moves into a neighboring compartment. From the defender's perspective, that is useful because concentrated damage falls and the remaining defenses receive more time to work.

Air and Inferno coverage is spread around the core

The Air Defenses form staggered coverage around different parts of the central structure, rather than leaning heavily toward one side.

The Inferno Towers also act as separate high-value anchors. This makes it harder for one spell sequence to suppress too much defensive pressure at the same time.

Against air-heavy armies such as Dragons or LavaLoon, one section may begin to weaken while another anti-air zone remains active. Queen Charge Hybrid or Yeti/Bowler-style armies create different pressure, but the defensive principle is similar: one successful compartment should not automatically unlock every storage behind it.

The right edge carries the biggest defensive risk

The right edge appears to be the most accessible side of Layout #8.

The real concern is a disciplined corner funnel that creates a relatively straight route through two wall layers. If that section collapses too quickly, some of the depth built into the layered-square design disappears.

Defensively, this side needs to consume something valuable—time, hero health, abilities, or troop strength—before the inner resource pockets are exposed.

It does not necessarily need an immediate stop. Making the first breakthrough expensive may already be enough to protect loot elsewhere.

Why Layout #8 works for Farming

The strongest quality of TH13 Farming Base #8 is that resource protection matters more than presenting one perfectly centered objective.
