TH14 Ranked Base #4: Multi-Compartment Defense Built Around Route Disruption

TH14 Ranked Layout #4 uses a multi-compartment structure with the Town Hall mildly offset toward the right side of the core. Looking at the actual base, the design feels intentionally uneven. The left half has broader compartments and longer travel lanes, while the Town Hall side carries a denser collection of valuable defenses and supporting structures.

That imbalance appears deliberate. Instead of asking every part of the village to defend in the same way, Layout #4 makes different sections perform different jobs. Some zones slow percentage, some disrupt troop movement, and the Town Hall side provides the heavier objective pressure.

The Town Hall is protected by more than wall depth

The Town Hall sits inside the right-central defensive network rather than exactly in the middle.

That slight offset matters because it prevents the objective from lining up perfectly with the rest of the core. Several important defenses remain positioned above, below, and across from it, so even if pressure reaches the Town Hall section, the whole base does not necessarily lose its defensive value at the same time.

This is useful for Ranked defense. The goal is not only to protect the Town Hall; it is to make the army spend enough strength reaching important targets that percentage and cleanup remain contested afterward.

The compartment layout is built to stretch formations

The wall structure is probably the most interesting part of Base #4.

Several large compartments sit beside smaller defensive pockets, creating different movement patterns depending on where troops drift. A formation that begins compact can gradually become wider once several targets appear at similar distances.

From the defender's perspective, that is exactly what the layout wants.

Yeti or Bowler Smash armies are far more dangerous when tanks, heroes, and supporting troops stay together. Once the formation spreads into neighboring sections, defensive towers get more time to focus smaller groups and shared spell value drops.

Queen Charge Hybrid creates a different kind of pressure, but the same principle applies: the base tries to keep several independent defensive zones alive instead of allowing one section to decide the entire raid.

Air and Inferno coverage avoids one simple solution

The Air Defenses and Inferno Towers are separated across different parts of the village.

That spacing may force air armies to remain under pressure through several stages rather than clearing one defensive cluster and immediately gaining a safe route.

Against Dragons or LavaLoon, one area can begin to fail while another still protects the opposite side of the core. The Infernos serve a similar role against ground formations, acting as individual defensive anchors instead of one convenient pair.

This gives Layout #4 a more persistent defensive feel.

The bottom edge is intentionally approachable

The bottom edge appears to be the easiest side to establish early percentage, but that does not necessarily make it weak.

In fact, its openness may be part of the defensive plan.

A formation that becomes too wide from this side can split between adjacent compartments. That creates extra travel, weaker concentration, and potentially awkward cleanup later. The clock starts doing part of the defensive work even when many attacking troops are still alive.

The real concern is if the bottom section disappears without producing that disruption. A very organized formation reaching the central compartments with most of its strength intact would reduce one of the layout's main advantages.
