TH14 Ranked Base #8: Multi-Compartment Defense Built Around Split Pressure

TH14 Ranked Layout #8 uses a multi-compartment defensive structure with the Town Hall mildly offset toward the left side of the core. Looking at the actual base, the layout feels intentionally uneven. Important defenses are spread through several connected sections instead of being packed around one obvious central target, while the outer buildings create enough distance to make percentage and cleanup part of the defensive plan.

For Ranked play, that makes sense. This base appears designed to influence the whole raid rather than simply ask, “Can the Town Hall survive?”

The Town Hall is protected without carrying the entire defense

The Town Hall sits inside the main defensive network, but its slight left-side offset means the rest of the base does not revolve around one perfectly centered compartment.

That gives Layout #8 some useful defensive flexibility.

Even if pressure reaches the Town Hall area, several important defenses remain active elsewhere. Inferno Towers, Air Defenses, X-Bows, and other threats are positioned across neighboring sections, so losing one pocket should not immediately collapse the village.

The base can therefore absorb damage in stages rather than depending on one all-or-nothing stand.

The compartment network is meant to separate troops

The wall structure is probably the most important feature here.

Several medium-sized compartments sit beside one another, creating multiple paths once an attacking force moves inside. Troops can be drawn toward different defensive targets instead of travelling as one perfectly organized group.

From the defender's perspective, that is valuable.

Yeti or Bowler Smash formations are much more dangerous when tanks, heroes, and support troops stay together. Layout #8 appears designed to break that shape. Once the formation stretches between neighboring compartments, defensive fire becomes easier to concentrate and shared spell value naturally drops.

Queen Charge Hybrid can create a different kind of pressure, but the defensive principle remains similar: one section falling does not automatically make the rest of the core comfortable.

Air and Inferno coverage remains spread out

The anti-air network is distributed across opposite sections of the village, while the Inferno Towers support different routes through the core.

That separation helps the defense stay relevant through several stages of the raid.

Against Dragons or LavaLoon, one air-defense zone may weaken while another still protects the opposite side. The base does not offer one tidy cluster where every important air threat disappears together.

This staggered pressure is especially useful in Ranked defense, where preserving percentage can matter even after a large part of the base has already been cleared.

The bottom edge plays an important defensive role

The bottom edge appears to be the most approachable part of Layout #8.

That might look like a weakness, but the base seems prepared to use it as a pathing tool. A broad formation entering from this side can begin splitting between adjacent compartments before the strongest defensive zones are fully engaged.

If that happens, the defense gains time.

One troop group may move toward the core while another remains busy on the outside. Surviving units are still present, but they are no longer applying their damage in one place.

The real structural concern is the opposite scenario: if the opening stays extremely compact and controlled, the multi-compartment design has less opportunity to create those splits.
