TH15 Clan War Base #12: Offset-Ring Defense with Layered Three-Star Pressure

TH15 Clan War Layout #12 is built around an offset-ring defensive structure, but the actual base shows something more interesting than a simple ring. The Town Hall is separated from the main central defensive mass, while the Eagle Artillery and several high-damage defenses remain deeper inside the village. That separation gives the layout a clear anti-three-star purpose: losing one important section should not automatically collapse everything else.

The base looks fairly organized from above, yet the compartments are deliberately broken into different defensive zones. That matters because the layout is trying to make an attacking army solve several problems one after another rather than overwhelming the entire village in one concentrated push.

The Town Hall works as a separate defensive objective

The Town Hall sits away from the exact center of the strongest defensive concentration. Behind and around it, other important defenses remain protected in their own compartments.

From a defensive perspective, this is useful because a force committed heavily to the Town Hall can finish that phase in an awkward position. Even if the objective falls, the Eagle Artillery, Infernos, X-Bows, and surrounding defenses may still have enough time to damage what remains.

This is less about guaranteeing Town Hall survival and more about making the third star expensive.

The inner ring is built to break troop formation

The central compartments create several diagonal and sideways paths around the Eagle area. That may encourage attacking troops to separate once they enter the middle.

This is probably the strongest part of the design.

Root Riders and other heavy ground armies are difficult to contain with walls alone. Layout #12 instead appears to use those walls to influence where the rest of the army travels. If front-line units move one way while heroes and support troops drift toward another compartment, the attacking force loses much of its concentrated power.

Once that happens, Rage, Heal, Freeze, and Overgrowth spells naturally become less efficient.

Defensive anchors are spread deliberately

The Inferno Towers are separated across the inner structure rather than stacked together. Air Defenses also protect different crossing lanes.

That spacing helps prevent one spell sequence from shutting down too much defensive value at once.

Against Dragons or LavaLoon, the base can continue applying air pressure as troops move from one section into another. Against Queen Charge Hybrid or heavy smash armies, clearing one defensive pocket still leaves another active deeper in the layout.

The defense is therefore built around sustained pressure, not one short burst.

The upper-right side is the main area to protect

The upper-right edge appears to be the most natural pressure point. If that section is removed too cheaply, the attacker may gain better control over the ring and reduce the troop-splitting effect the layout depends on.

For the defender, this makes the area especially important for trap value and overlapping defensive coverage.

The main structural weakness is similar: if the ring beside the Town Hall is cut early, the base becomes easier to read. Layout #12 works best when troops are encouraged to circle before reaching the central defensive mass.

Why Layout #12 suits Clan War

The Clan War value of this base comes from forcing several parts of a three-star attempt to work in the correct order.

The Town Hall has to be handled, troop formation has to survive the ring, the central defensive anchors still need to be cleared, and enough time must remain for the outer compartments.
