TH15 Clan War Base #16: Offset-Ring Defense Built to Break Attack Timing

TH15 Clan War Layout #16 is built around an offset-ring defensive structure, and after studying the actual base, its main purpose appears to be making the attacking army lose efficiency as it moves from one compartment to the next. The Town Hall sits inside a heavily defended central zone, slightly separated from several other important targets rather than sharing one oversized compartment with everything.

That separation is important. This base does not seem obsessed with keeping the Town Hall untouched at all costs. Instead, it looks designed to make the third star difficult even when the attacker successfully reaches the objective.

A high-pressure core surrounded by separate defensive zones

The central area is clearly the most dangerous section of Layout #16. The Town Hall is supported by nearby high-value defenses, while the Eagle Artillery sits farther toward the upper half. Inferno Towers and other defensive anchors are distributed around the ring rather than concentrated into one small area.

This creates several layers of pressure.

Even if one part of the core is neutralized, another section can continue firing. The attacker cannot easily remove the Town Hall, Eagle, Infernos, and surrounding defenses with one spell sequence.

That should help the base preserve damage deeper into the raid.

The ring is designed to stretch attacking armies

The large compartments on the left, right, top, and bottom give the layout a surprisingly open appearance. Defensively, though, that space serves a purpose.

Troops moving around the ring can become separated from the units pushing toward the center. Root Riders may ignore much of the wall structure, but their support troops and heroes still depend on good pathing.

If one group circles while another enters the core, the defense gains exactly what it wants: an attacking army fighting several smaller battles instead of one concentrated battle.

That makes Rage, Heal, Freeze, and Overgrowth spells less efficient and gives individual defenses more time to work.

Defensive spacing protects against easy spell value

Another strong feature is the distance between the Inferno Towers and Air Defenses.

They are positioned across different lanes instead of forming one compact defensive block. A single control spell is therefore less likely to shut down several major threats simultaneously.

Against Dragons or LavaLoon, this spread can be especially useful. Air troops moving across the base may leave one defensive zone only to enter another rather than escaping the strongest fire completely.

The same principle helps against Queen Charge Hybrid and heavy ground armies: defeating one compartment does not mean the next section is already solved.

The upper-right side needs to hold its shape

The tactical profile highlights the upper-right edge as the easiest funnel, so defensively this is one of the most important areas of the base.

If that section disappears too quickly, the attacker may gain a cleaner route toward the ring and reduce the pathing uncertainty Layout #16 depends on.

The defense does not necessarily need to completely stop progress there. Even forcing extra time, early hero abilities, or additional spell investment would help the rest of the layout.

The real Clan War strategy

What makes TH15 Clan War Base #16 interesting is that several parts of a three-star attempt need to happen in the correct order.

The attacker has to manage the Town Hall, preserve enough strength for the remaining defenses, keep troops from circling the ring, and still leave enough time for cleanup. If one of those stages becomes inefficient, the base can protect the third star even when much of the village has already fallen.
