TH17 Farming Base #6: Layered Square with a Right-Side Funnel and Staggered Resource Protection

Town Hall 17 Farming Layout #6 is built around a layered square, but it does not feel like a simple “walls around the Town Hall” design. The Town Hall sits slightly above the visual center, while the storages and major defenses are distributed through several compartments around it. That arrangement appears intended to make resource collection happen in stages. An attacker may break into one useful section quickly, yet the next storage is not necessarily sitting on the same route.

The right edge, around three or four o’clock, is probably the first place I would inspect during scouting. There is enough open space to remove a few exterior buildings without spending too much of the army, and the walls behind that edge appear to create a fairly readable route toward the middle. That makes the side attractive, but also potentially dangerous for the defender if an attacker creates the funnel correctly.

The key is not to clear everything.

A disciplined player could remove only the buildings needed to create a narrow lane through the first two wall layers. If that opening stays clean, Root Riders or another heavy ground composition may be able to move toward the core without wandering into neighboring compartments. In that situation, the attacker can keep heroes and support troops close enough to benefit from the same spells.

A much wider entry may actually be less efficient.

Imagine Root Riders moving inward while the Queen continues along the outer-right buildings. Both groups may stay alive, so at first the attack looks successful. Percentage climbs and several defenses disappear. The problem appears later, when the main army reaches the strongest inner section without the Queen or part of the supporting damage. Suddenly, a Rage, Heal, Freeze, or another control spell only helps one group instead of the whole attack.

That is where the layered-square structure may earn most of its value. Each compartment adds another pathing decision. The walls are not simply trying to keep troops outside; they are trying to make the army change direction after it gets inside.

Queen Charge Hybrid looks like one of the cleaner ways to challenge the base. A Queen starting from the right side could remove one defensive pocket, clear buildings that might pull troops sideways, and shape a more predictable route for Miners and Hog Riders. If the Queen stays on track, the Hybrid portion could enter through a narrow channel and reach the central resource area with good momentum.

The risk is the setup time. A Queen that walks toward an outside building or spends too long breaking through a high-hitpoint target can delay the main phase. The attack may still reach the Town Hall, but that delay can become important when one or two storages remain several compartments away during cleanup.

Heavy ground smash armies face a similar tradeoff. Root Riders should have enough strength to cross the wall layers, so the real challenge is preserving formation. A compact push is dangerous because it keeps tanks, heroes, healers, and support troops together. A loose deployment gives the base more opportunities to stretch the army across separate resource lanes.

Air attacks have their own puzzle. The Air Defenses and Inferno Towers do not appear to form one tidy cluster. Instead, they cover different areas of the village, meaning an attacker may have to decide which threat matters first rather than solving the whole center with a single spell sequence.

Dragons could potentially work from the right once the funnel is shaped. A narrow deployment seems more sensible than a broad line. If Dragons are spread across too much of the edge, some may begin following outside targets while the main group moves toward the core. That leaves fewer units available when the central defenses start applying heavier pressure.

LavaLoon offers better control over target order, but the attack would need a clear second phase. Removing the first Air Defense is only part of the job. The player still has to cross into the Town Hall area, deal with surviving Inferno coverage, and reach the remaining resource pockets without running out of Balloons or time.

The Town Hall’s slightly upper position also creates an interesting farming decision. A player entering from the right can reach the central area, but the objective is not sitting on the exact same path as every storage. Going directly toward the Town Hall may secure the main target while leaving loot elsewhere. Chasing storages first may improve the resource haul, but that costs additional movement and can weaken the central push.

That separation is probably the clearest reason this layout fits the Farming category.

A good farming base does not need to protect every resource building against every fully prepared TH17 army. That would be unrealistic. What it can do is make each additional storage more expensive to collect. Here, the first valuable compartment may be reachable without too much trouble. The next one requires another wall transition. A third may force the army to cross the core or turn back toward the opposite side.

By then, troop movement and the remaining timer begin to matter.

The obvious weakness is a well-prepared right-side corner funnel. If an attacker creates a straight lane through two wall layers and keeps the army compact, the central section could open faster than intended. Queen Charge Hybrid and a controlled Root Rider smash would probably be the first strategies I would expect experienced players to try.

Still, the base has a clear defensive identity. TH17 Farming Layout #6 uses its layered square, slightly offset Town Hall, separated resource compartments, and distributed air coverage to make complete loot collection less straightforward than simply breaking through one wall.
