TH17 Farming Base #8: Layered Square with a Left-Side Entry and Split Resource Paths

Town Hall 17 Farming Layout #8 has a very deliberate layered structure. The walls form a broad square around the village, but the important resources are not stacked in one obvious compartment. Instead, the Town Hall sits slightly below the center while the main storage value is spread across different sections of the base. That gives the layout a practical farming purpose: an attacker may reach one valuable pocket fairly early, yet moving from that pocket to the next one should require another wall transition or a change in direction.

The left edge, around eight or nine o’clock, looks like the most natural place to begin. There is enough open space to remove a few outside buildings and create a controlled funnel toward the inner layers. I would not automatically clear the entire side, though. A wide entry may actually make the attack harder to control because several defenses and resource buildings become available at roughly the same time.

That is where the layered square becomes useful.

Imagine a Root Rider attack beginning from the left. The main group could start moving toward the Town Hall while the Queen or other support units continue along a nearby compartment. At first, both groups may look productive. Percentage goes up, defenses fall, and the raid still feels under control. Later, however, the front line may reach the central area without enough support nearby, forcing the attacker to spend spells just to keep the push moving.

A narrow funnel is therefore probably the biggest threat to this design. If the attacker removes only the buildings needed to create one straight lane, the route through the first two wall layers becomes much easier to manage. Root Riders or another heavy smash army should have enough strength to cross those sections. The harder part for the defender is making sure the army does not stay perfectly grouped all the way into the core.

Queen Charge Hybrid also looks like a reasonable counter. A Queen starting from the left could remove one defensive pocket, trim away buildings that might pull the Hybrid troops sideways, and create a cleaner route for Miners and Hog Riders. That sounds controlled on paper, but the timing can become tight. One unexpected Queen turn or a slow high-hitpoint target could delay the main phase and leave the opposite resource section for a rushed cleanup.

The Town Hall placement adds another useful decision. Because it sits slightly lower than the visual center, an attacker who enters from the left can work toward the objective without necessarily crossing every storage along the way. Going directly for the Town Hall may secure the main target while leaving loot elsewhere. Taking a wider route for the storages first may collect more resources, but it also costs more time and can weaken the push toward the middle.

That tradeoff is what makes this base feel like a real farming layout rather than a general defensive design.

The anti-air network appears spread across opposite sections, while the Inferno Towers support different routes into the core. That means an air attacker cannot rely on one simple spell plan for the whole village. Dragons may still find a workable line from the left after the funnel is prepared, but a broad deployment could send part of the army around the perimeter instead of toward the Town Hall.

LavaLoon offers more control over target order, though it would require careful planning after the first Air Defense is removed. The second half matters just as much as the opening because the remaining defenses and storages are not sitting in one straight line.

From a farming perspective, the strongest feature is the separation between quick loot and complete loot. A rushed raid may take outside buildings, one or two storages, and perhaps the Town Hall. That does not necessarily mean every major resource building will fall. To collect everything, the attacker is likely to need more troops, more spells, and enough time to move between separate compartments.

There is a visible weakness, of course. A disciplined corner funnel from the left that creates a straight route through two wall layers could open the village faster than intended. Experienced players may test that route first, especially with Queen Charge Hybrid or a compact Root Rider smash.
