TH17 Farming Base #11: Layered Square with a Right-Side Entry and Split Resource Routes

Town Hall 17 Farming Layout #11 has a very deliberate, almost fortress-like shape, but the resource protection is more interesting than the symmetry first suggests. The Town Hall sits slightly below the visual center, surrounded by several defensive layers rather than being pushed to one extreme corner. Around it, the base spreads storages and key defenses across different paths. That means reaching the Town Hall does not automatically give an attacker a clean route through every valuable resource building.

The layered square structure is easy to notice. There is a tighter inner section around the main objective, followed by wider compartments that force troops to move through several wall transitions. Some parts of the base look fairly open, while others are packed with defenses that may pull troops away from the intended route. I would expect pathing to matter almost as much as raw troop strength here.

The right edge, around three or four o’clock, appears to be the most practical place to begin scouting. There is enough room to remove a few exterior buildings and create a controlled funnel without immediately committing the entire army. More importantly, the wall geometry on this side may allow a careful attacker to create a reasonably straight path through two layers.

That is probably the clearest weakness visible in the design.

A disciplined attacker would not need to clear the whole right side. In fact, doing too much could make troop movement less predictable. Removing only the buildings that interfere with the intended lane may allow Root Riders, heroes, and supporting troops to stay together as they move toward the core.

If that happens, the base could come under serious pressure.

Root Riders or another heavy ground smash army should have enough power to cross the first wall layers. The more interesting defensive question is whether the surrounding compartments can pull the formation apart before the main group reaches the Town Hall. If tanks continue inward while the Queen or support troops follow buildings along the outside, the attack starts turning into two separate pushes.

At first, that split may actually look useful. Both groups are destroying buildings and percentage keeps rising. Later, though, the main army may arrive at the central defenses without enough support. A Rage, Heal, Freeze, or another control spell that should help one strong group suddenly covers only part of the force.

Queen Charge Hybrid may offer the attacker better control. A Queen starting along the right side could remove one defensive pocket, take some early value, and eliminate buildings that might otherwise drag Miners and Hog Riders away from the middle. If the Queen follows the intended route, the Hybrid portion gets a cleaner entry through the layered square.

The downside is time. One awkward Queen turn or a slow high-hitpoint target can delay the main phase. The Town Hall may still fall, but the remaining storages can become difficult to reach before the timer expires. For a farming base, that is not a bad outcome. Saving even one valuable resource pocket can make the layout useful over repeated defenses.

The Town Hall’s slightly lower position also creates an interesting tradeoff. A right-side attack can work toward the core, but the objective does not appear to sit directly behind every storage. A player who pushes aggressively toward the Town Hall may leave loot elsewhere. Chasing the resource buildings first may collect more value, but it also adds movement and gives the defenses more time to work.

That separation is probably the strongest reason this design fits Farming play.

The anti-air setup appears spread across opposite sections instead of concentrated near one obvious edge. Inferno Towers also seem positioned to influence different routes into the core. An air attacker therefore cannot assume that removing one defensive pocket will solve the entire village.

Dragons could still attack from the right after a proper funnel. I would expect a narrower deployment to be more effective than spreading them across the whole edge. A wide line risks sending some Dragons around outside buildings while the strongest group moves through the middle. Once the army separates, the Town Hall section becomes much harder to handle cleanly.

LavaLoon offers more precise targeting, although it requires a clearer plan for the second half of the raid. Removing one Air Defense does not appear to expose everything behind it. The attacker still has to decide which inner section comes next, when to commit toward the Town Hall, and which storage pocket will be left for cleanup.

What I like about Layout #11 is that the resources do not all sit on one comfortable line. The right edge provides access to one part of the village, but not necessarily every valuable target. An attacker may secure the Town Hall and one storage section while another pocket remains several compartments away.

That is a realistic farming goal. No TH17 base should be treated as impossible to clear against a well-planned army. The more useful question is whether a rushed raid can collect everything efficiently. Here, the answer appears to be no unless the attacker creates a disciplined funnel and keeps the army together.

The biggest concern remains the right-side corner. A precise entry that opens a straight route through two wall layers could expose the central section earlier than intended. Queen Charge Hybrid and compact Root Rider attacks are likely to benefit most from that weakness.
