TH17 Ranked Base #3: Central Town Hall with an Offset Diamond and Lower-Right Entry

Town Hall 17 Ranked Layout #3 is built around a more central objective than some of the previous offset designs. The Town Hall sits inside the primary defensive core, surrounded by several connected compartments rather than pushed close to an outside wall. That changes the character of the attack. There is no obvious shortcut that simply grabs the Town Hall and leaves. An attacker has to move through meaningful defensive coverage, while still thinking about percentage and cleanup on the wider edges of the village.

The walls form an offset diamond rather than a perfectly mirrored square. Looking at the base for a few seconds, the shape seems fairly organized. Follow the individual wall lines, though, and the routes into the middle become less predictable. Some compartments guide troops inward, while others can pull them sideways before they reach the Town Hall. That may be especially annoying for attacks that rely on one large group staying together from start to finish.

The lower-right side, around four or five o’clock, looks like the most practical place to begin. There is enough open space there to trim a few outer buildings and prepare a diagonal route toward the center. I would not clear the entire corner automatically. A smaller, controlled funnel is likely to be more useful because removing too many buildings can expose several different targets and make hero pathing harder to predict.

A Queen or hero entry from this side appears to be the biggest visible weakness. If one lower-right compartment is removed early, the attacker can shorten the distance between the outside edge and the central Town Hall area. A Queen Charge could take a defense or two, close one side of the funnel, and leave the main army with a much simpler route inward.

That sounds straightforward, but it is the sort of plan that can fall apart over one small pathing decision. The Queen may continue along the edge instead of turning inward. A remaining building can pull her away from the intended opening. Suddenly, the main force has to start without the clean funnel it was supposed to have.

Queen Charge Hybrid seems particularly well suited to testing this layout. The Queen can handle one side first, while Miners and Hog Riders are saved for the central phase. If the setup works, Hybrid troops should have fewer compartments competing for their attention. Timing is the catch. A long Queen phase can leave the main attack rushing through the final defenses with very little time for cleanup.

Root Riders or another heavy ground smash army offer a more direct alternative. The walls are unlikely to be the biggest obstacle for that type of army. Keeping the formation compact matters more. If Root Riders, heroes, healers, and support troops enter the same central lane, the attacker can use Rage, Heal, Freeze, or other spells much more efficiently.

A broad entry may produce the opposite result. One group could lean toward the Town Hall while supporting units drift into a side compartment. It may still look like a strong attack because buildings are falling on both sides. The weakness only becomes obvious when the main group reaches the core and no longer has all of its support nearby.

Air attacks face a different problem. The Air Defenses appear arranged to protect crossing lanes rather than simply stacking on one side of the village. An attacker coming from the lower-right may remove one air threat early, but another important lane remains protected elsewhere. The Inferno Towers are also separated far enough apart that one spell is unlikely to neutralize both at the same moment.

Dragons could still work if the lower-right funnel is shaped carefully. A narrower deployment should help keep them moving toward the central objective. If they are spread across too much of the edge, a few may follow outside buildings and leave the core group under heavier defensive pressure.

LavaLoon offers more control over target order, but the route needs to be planned beyond the first Air Defense. The Town Hall sits centrally enough that the attacker cannot simply skirt the core and expect the rest of the base to disappear naturally. The second and third phases of the attack matter just as much as the opening.

What makes this layout interesting for Ranked play is the competition between safe percentage and direct Town Hall access. An attacker can spend more time clearing outer buildings before entering the core, improving percentage and funnel control. The downside is that the Town Hall remains active longer. Push directly inward, and the objective may fall sooner, but a large amount of percentage can remain spread around the edges.

That tradeoff can turn an ordinary trophy attack into a timing decision. A player who reaches the Town Hall quickly may finish the core with plenty of surviving troops but find them travelling across the map for cleanup. Someone who spends too long building a perfect funnel could have the opposite problem: excellent percentage, but not enough time to finish the objective and remaining defenses cleanly.

The lower-right diagonal is still the route I would expect skilled attackers to test first. A well-executed Queen or hero entry can remove the corner and create a much shorter path into the primary defensive core. If the attacker reaches the Town Hall with heroes and spells still available, the village could open faster than intended.
