TH18 Farming Base #21: Split Storage Routes and a Lower-Side Town Hall
Town Hall 18 Farming Layout #21 looks neat at first glance. The walls form a broad diamond, the main resource buildings are spaced at regular intervals, and the Town Hall sits slightly below the true center. That symmetry makes the base easy to read, but not necessarily easy to clear. Its main idea appears to be simple: make the attacker move through several resource zones instead of collecting everything along one convenient route.
The storages are not stacked beside the Town Hall or hidden in one oversized compartment. They are spread across the inner diamond, with separate wall lines and defensive pockets between them. A quick farming army may reach one storage early, yet the next target can sit across a junction that pulls troops in another direction. Even if the attacker earns a strong percentage, part of the loot may remain untouched.
The Town Hall’s lower-side offset adds another decision. An army entering from the top can work through the storage line first, but it may arrive at the Town Hall late. A push from the bottom reaches the objective sooner, although that route does not naturally pass through every storage. The attacker may have to choose between securing the Town Hall quickly and building a wider path through the resource area.
The lower-right edge, around four or five o’clock, appears to offer the cleanest funnel. There is room to remove a few outside structures and point a ground army diagonally toward the middle. I would still keep the opening narrow. Clearing too much of the right side can expose several targets at once, sending the front line toward the center while the Queen or support troops continue around the outside. The split may not look serious until spell support is needed.
That diagonal storage lane is also the layout’s most believable weakness. Root Riders or another heavy ground smash army could use it as a stepping stone into the core, especially if one corner is shaped before the main deployment. These troops can cross the walls, but the harder task is keeping heroes, healers, and damage units close enough to share the same spells. A disciplined entry could break the center quickly; a rushed one may scatter the army across two compartments.
Queen Charge Hybrid offers a more controlled alternative. Starting the Queen from the lower-right could remove an outside defense, take one storage, and reduce the number of buildings competing for her path. Miners and Hog Riders could then move through the gap. The plan is sensible, though not forgiving. A slow wall break or an unexpected Queen turn may cost enough time to leave the far-side storages standing.
Air attacks are possible as well. The Air Defenses appear to cover different lanes through the inner compartments, while the Inferno Towers are separated rather than grouped into one easy spell target. Dragons may gain value from a lower-right entry after the funnel is prepared, but a wide line could send several around the perimeter. LavaLoon provides better targeting control, although the attacker would still need a clear sequence through the center.
As a farming layout, the design makes sense because it separates quick loot from complete loot. A casual raid may grab collectors, one storage, and perhaps the Town Hall without opening the whole base. A stronger army can push deeper, but it may need most of its troops, several spells, and nearly the full timer to reach every major resource building.
That is a realistic defensive goal. Farming bases do not have to stop every attack; they only need to make a full sweep inconvenient enough that some loot regularly survives. The layout may also punish players who focus too heavily on the Town Hall, since the remaining storages can sit outside the army’s natural exit path.
