TH18 Farming Base #22: Two-Stage Storage Protection with a Lower-Right Entry

Town Hall 18 Farming Layout #22 is not trying to make every storage impossible to reach. Its purpose is more practical: prevent one quick push from collecting all the important loot at once. The base uses a compact, storage-led diamond, with the Town Hall positioned near the center behind the main resource line. That arrangement gives an attacker several choices, but none appears to cover the whole village naturally.

The storage pattern is the most important part of the design. Resource buildings sit in separate pockets rather than behind one convenient wall opening. A fast farming army may reach one storage fairly early, yet that does not automatically unlock the remaining resource area. Even when the base gives up some loot, it could preserve a storage on the opposite side or force the attacker to commit nearly the full army.

There is quite a lot of symmetry here. That helps divide the loot into recognisable stages, although it can also make the base easier to read during scouting. An experienced attacker may identify the central lanes quickly. The real defense, then, is not confusion alone. It comes from wall transitions, separated storage compartments, crossing defensive coverage, and the time required to move from one resource pocket to another.

The lower-right edge, around four or five o’clock, appears to offer the cleanest funnel. There is enough room to remove a few exterior buildings and form a diagonal route toward the middle. I would avoid clearing the entire side, though. If the opening becomes too wide, the main force may turn toward the core while the Queen or supporting troops continue along the outside.

That split can look harmless during the first part of the attack. Both groups may still be alive and collecting percentage. The problem usually appears later, when a Rage, Heal, Freeze, or Overgrowth supports only one section of the army. Cleanup then begins from two different places, often with the most valuable buildings still separated.

Queen Charge Hybrid looks like one of the more controlled counters. A Queen starting from the lower-right could remove an exterior defense, collect early resource value, and reduce the number of buildings competing for her path. Miners and Hog Riders could then enter through a narrower lane toward the Town Hall.

The plan sounds comfortable on paper, but it is not automatic. A slow storage takedown, an awkward wall opening, or defending Clan Castle troops could delay the charge. If the Hybrid phase begins late, the attacker may secure the Town Hall while leaving the upper resource section untouched.

Root Riders or another heavy ground smash army could also exploit the diagonal storage lane. These armies have enough power to cross the wall network, so pathing may matter more than raw damage. A narrow push should keep tanks, heroes, and support units close enough to benefit from the same spells. A broad deployment may divide the attack between the central lane and the right-side compartments, forcing troops to return for missed buildings later.

Air attacks present a different problem. The Air Defenses appear to cover crossing lanes rather than protecting only one edge, while the Inferno Towers are separated enough to complicate a single-spell plan. Dragons may find a route from the lower-right after the funnel is prepared, but a loose deployment could send several around the perimeter. LavaLoon offers more precise targeting, although it would need a clear sequence for the inner defenses, Town Hall area, and final storages.

The layout’s clearest weakness is the same diagonal route that makes it readable. If one storage lane provides clean access to the center, a patient attacker may remove several high-value targets in sequence. That does not automatically make the design poor. A farming base can accept losing one compartment if the remaining loot stays protected long enough to make a complete sweep difficult.

What I like about Layout #22 is the separation between quick loot and complete loot. A rushed attacker may take one storage and a few outside buildings, then leave without opening the rest of the village. A stronger army can push deeper, but it must manage the Town Hall, resource compartments, and cleanup as separate tasks. That is a more realistic farming goal than expecting every storage to survive against a prepared TH18 army.
