TH18 Farming Base #27: Staged Storage Protection and Diagonal Pressure

TH18 Farming Layout #27 does not hide every storage behind one oversized wall block. Instead, it spreads the resource path across several layers, which is a sensible choice for day-to-day farming defense. An attacker may reach one valuable section quickly, but clearing the whole village should require a second and possibly third push. That staged structure is the main reason this design fits Farming use.

The base follows a storage-led diamond shape. Important resource buildings are placed around the inner routes rather than stacked together in one corner. Compartments alternate between defenses, storages, and wall junctions, which can interrupt troop movement as the army changes targets. A quick smash through one side may collect useful loot, yet it is less likely to sweep every storage without maintaining a controlled path through the center.

The Town Hall sits slightly away from the exact middle, leaning toward the upper side according to the tactical profile. That offset may encourage a diagonal attack instead of a straight edge entry. It also separates the Town Hall route from part of the storage route. An attacker can chase the main objective and leave meaningful loot elsewhere, or target storages first and reach the Town Hall later than planned.

The upper-left edge looks like the easiest place to create a funnel. There is room to remove outside buildings and shape a diagonal push without spending too many troops on setup. I would still keep the entry narrow. If both corners are cleared too aggressively, ground units may spread across two lanes, with tanks moving inward while heroes or support troops stop on exposed storages. That split is especially costly in farming attacks, where players often deploy faster and with less detailed planning than they would in war.

The clearest weakness is connected to the same route. A focused diagonal attack may turn an exposed storage lane into direct access toward the center. Root Riders or another heavy ground smash army could exploit it, particularly if a hero or siege option clears one side first. The layout is not trying to make entry impossible. It appears designed to make the attacker spend enough time and strength that other storages remain protected when the main push loses momentum.

Queen Charge Hybrid could offer more control. A Queen beginning near the upper-left side may remove one defensive pocket, narrow the route, and allow Miners and Hog Riders to move through the storage compartments in sequence. The plan sounds effective, although timing matters. If the Queen turns outside, pauses on a storage, or gets delayed by defensive Clan Castle troops, the Hybrid phase may start late.

Air armies have realistic options too. Air Defenses cover different entry lanes, while the Inferno Towers act as separate anchors instead of one compact pair. Dragons may gain value from a diagonal approach after the funnel is prepared, but a loose deployment could send part of the army around the perimeter. LavaLoon gives more targeting control, though it needs a clear sequence through the inner defenses and resource compartments.

What I like about this layout as a farming design is that it does not depend on one all-or-nothing core. Losing one compartment does not immediately expose every major resource building. An attacker may collect decent loot from the first section and still have to decide whether pushing deeper is worth the remaining troops and time. That is a more realistic form of protection than expecting the base to stop every raid completely.

This assessment comes from the visible screenshot and tactical profile rather than replay data. Hidden traps, defensive troops, hero equipment, and balance changes may alter the result. Defense replays should focus on the upper-left diagonal, noting which storages fall first, where troops split, and whether attackers reach the center with enough force to continue. Those results will show whether the staged storage path works as intended or whether one lane needs reinforcement.

TH18 Farming Base #27: A Storage-Led Diamond That Forces Two-Stage Attacks

Analyzed by: ClashBase Strategy Team Reviewed: August 9, 2026 Testing status: Visual analysis complete — Friendly Challenge and replay results pending

Town Hall 18 Farming Layout #27 is not trying to hide every valuable building inside one crowded box. Its approach is more practical: spread the storages across a diamond-shaped network and make the attacker solve the village one section at a time. The Town Hall is slightly offset toward the upper side of the core, while the main resource buildings sit behind separate wall lines. That separation may not stop a powerful army outright, but it can make a quick sweep of every storage surprisingly awkward.

The upper-left edge is the first area I would scout. It offers enough space to remove a few outside buildings and form a diagonal lane toward the center. There is a catch, though. If the entire side is cleared too aggressively, troops may see targets in both the upper compartment and the left storage lane. A push that starts as one group can turn into two smaller attacks, neither of which receives ideal spell support.

That diagonal route is also the layout’s most believable weakness. An attacker could use the exposed storage line as a stepping stone into the middle, especially with Root Riders or another heavy ground smash army. These troops can cross the walls and keep pressure on the core, but the funnel still matters. If the front line turns toward the Town Hall while heroes stop on an outside storage, the army may lose its shape before reaching the second half of the village.

Queen Charge Hybrid could be a more controlled answer. A Queen beginning around ten or eleven o’clock may remove one defensive pocket, collect a storage, and reduce the number of buildings competing for her path. Miners and Hog Riders could then enter through a narrower lane. On paper, that looks clean. In practice, one awkward wall break, a defending Clan Castle pull, or a slow storage takedown could delay the Hybrid phase and leave the lower resource compartments untouched.

The air setup deserves attention as well. Air Defenses cover different entry lanes instead of sitting in one convenient group, and the Inferno Towers act as separate anchors inside the base. A Dragon attack may gain early value from the upper side after both corners are shaped, but a wide deployment could send several Dragons around the perimeter. LavaLoon gives the attacker more control over targeting, although it would need a clear sequence through the inner defenses and toward the remaining storages.

What I like about this design as a farming base is that the resources are not presented as one prize. Even if the attacker reaches the Town Hall and takes a strong percentage, one or two storages may remain on the opposite side. That can happen because the army splits, cleanup begins too late, or the final troops finish in the wrong compartment. Farming layouts do not have to be unbeatable to be useful; sometimes protecting part of the available loot is already a decent result.

There is still room for improvement. If Friendly Challenges show that the upper-left diagonal repeatedly opens the core with little resistance, traps or a few defensive buildings may need to be repositioned. The first tests should also check whether a narrow entry produces a cleaner path than a wide smash from twelve o’clock. Replays will be more valuable than first impressions here, especially when judging storage survival and cleanup time.
