TH8 Ranked Base number 4 – Layered Core and Defensive Pathing Analysis

This TH8 Ranked base does not try to overwhelm an attacker with a huge central box. Instead, it stretches the important defensive areas from top to bottom and divides them into several smaller compartments. At first glance the layout looks fairly simple, but the deeper you move into it, the more awkward the path becomes.

The Town Hall sits in the lower-middle part of the base rather than directly at the geometric center. I think that placement is interesting because it gives an attacker a choice: push directly toward the Town Hall, or spend time clearing the compartments above it first. A rushed entry could secure the Town Hall but leave enough defenses standing to make the rest of the attack messy.

Just above the Town Hall is another protected central section, which helps create a second defensive layer. Breaking through the outside wall is only the beginning. Troops still have to cross separate compartments before they can freely move between the upper and lower halves of the village.

Ground pathing is probably one of the better features here. The walls form several offset boxes rather than one continuous open space. Giants entering from the left, for example, may be pulled toward nearby Cannons or Archer Towers instead of moving exactly where the attacker expected. Supporting Wizards can then become separated while clearing storages and other buildings behind them.

That separation matters more than it may seem. Once the tanks and support troops stop moving together, splash defenses get much more dangerous.

Wizard Towers and Mortars are spread through different areas of the layout instead of being stacked in the same compartment. This gives the base several zones where grouped troops can take splash damage. Against a typical TH8 Giant-and-Wizard push, a few seconds of poor pathing may leave the Wizards exposed while the Giants are still occupied with another defense.

The resource storages also serve a defensive purpose. In Ranked play, their main value here is their high hit points. Gold and Elixir Storages can hold attacking troops in place while nearby defenses continue firing. An attacker might destroy one storage easily enough, but doing that repeatedly across different compartments costs time and troop health.

Air attacks have to deal with a similar problem. The important anti-air defenses appear to be positioned inside the wall structure rather than handed over at the perimeter. Dragons or Balloons should normally have to travel through defended areas before removing the main air coverage, while Archer Towers continue contributing damage from other angles.

There are a few weaknesses. Some outside buildings are easy percentage, and the Town Hall can potentially be approached more directly from the lower side. A disciplined attacker who establishes a strong funnel may also reduce much of the pathing problem.

Even so, the defensive concept is sensible. This TH8 Ranked base seems built around **layered compartments, delayed access to the Town Hall, distributed splash damage, storage-based stalling, and troop movement that can punish an inaccurate funnel**. It may not stop every strong TH8 army, but it should make careless attacks considerably less forgiving.
