TH9 Clan War Base #1: Multi-Compartment Defense Built for Pathing and Three-Star Denial

TH9 Clan War Layout #1 uses a multi-compartment structure with the Town Hall offset toward the right side of the defensive core. Looking at the layout itself, the design appears to value troop-pathing disruption more than perfect symmetry. The Town Hall, X-Bows, Air Defenses, Archer Queen, Wizard Towers, storages, and other key defenses are spread across several sections instead of being placed on one simple route.

That gives the base a clear Clan War purpose. An attacker may secure one important objective, but keeping enough army alive for the remaining compartments is a different problem.

The Town Hall complicates a straight core entry

The Town Hall sits inside the defensive network but away from a perfectly central line.

This creates an interesting decision for a ground attack. A force pushing directly toward the objective may leave important defensive value active elsewhere, while an army focusing first on X-Bows, the defending Queen, or Air Defenses may not naturally finish near the Town Hall.

That separation may help the base protect the third star even if the Town Hall eventually falls.

The defense does not need to stop everything immediately. Forcing an early hero ability, extra spell, or a few troop losses can make the back end considerably more difficult.

Small compartments are designed to disturb troop concentration

The inner wall pattern breaks the village into several short sections rather than one large central box.

Once troops enter, nearby targets can pull them in different directions. One group may move toward the Town Hall while another turns into a side compartment.

That split is particularly important against Hog-based strategies. Hogs are strongest when their movement between defenses is predictable and Heal Spells can cover large groups. If the base separates them across two routes, spell efficiency drops and surviving defenses gain more time.

Queen Charge LavaLoon is another realistic TH9 counter. A strong Queen Charge could remove an Air Defense, enemy Queen, or X-Bow, but the attacker still needs to create a sensible Balloon path afterward.

Air coverage is spread across the village

TH9 has no Inferno Towers, so the most important defensive anchors here are the Air Defenses, X-Bows, Archer Queen, Wizard Towers, Teslas, and other supporting defenses.

The Air Defenses appear separated rather than grouped into one easy target. That matters because an air attacker cannot remove the entire anti-air network through one clean entry.

The staggered positioning also means different sections can remain dangerous even after one Air Defense is destroyed.

The bottom edge is the main pressure point

The bottom edge looks like the most approachable place to begin shaping the base.

The real weakness appears when the funnel becomes too wide. Several adjacent sections can open at once, allowing a well-controlled army to pressure multiple defensive pockets.

There is a downside for the attacker, though. If the funnel is too wide, troops may split unintentionally. One group can remain clearing the perimeter while the main force enters the core, creating exactly the time pressure this layout is trying to produce.

Why Layout #1 works for Clan War

The strongest quality of TH9 Clan War Base #1 is the choice between securing the objective and preserving enough attacking strength for the back end.

Its offset Town Hall, compartment-heavy structure, separated Air Defenses, and distributed defensive value all support an anti-three-star approach based on pathing disruption, scouting pressure, and difficult cleanup.
