TH9 Clan War Base #5: Multi-Compartment Defense Built Around Core Pathing
TH9 Clan War Layout #5 uses a multi-compartment structure with the Town Hall offset toward the right side of the core. Looking at the actual base, the defensive plan appears to be less about making one building impossible to reach and more about forcing the attacker to solve several smaller problems on the way to a three-star result.
The Town Hall, X-Bows, Air Defenses, Archer Queen, Wizard Towers, storages, and other important defenses are spread across different sections. That separation gives the layout a useful war identity: a successful opening may secure value, but it does not automatically create a clean finish.
The offset Town Hall complicates a direct push
The Town Hall sits inside the main defensive network but slightly to the right rather than perfectly centered.
That small shift can influence troop movement. An army entering from the opposite side may engage several defensive targets before naturally reaching the Town Hall, while a push aimed directly at the objective can leave valuable defenses untouched elsewhere.
For an anti-three-star base, that trade makes sense. The Town Hall does not necessarily need to survive forever. If reaching it costs hero health, spells, troops, or time, the remaining defense has a better chance of protecting the final star.
Multiple compartments can split the attacking force
The wall structure is probably one of Layout #5's stronger features.
Several small compartments surround the center, creating frequent changes in target selection. A funnel that is slightly too wide can send one group into a side section while another continues toward the core.
That may look harmless at first. In practice, it can be costly.
TH9 Hog attacks depend heavily on predictable movement and well-timed Heal Spells. Once Hog groups separate, spell efficiency falls. Queen Charge LavaLoon faces a different challenge: the Queen phase needs to remove the correct Air Defense and shape a sensible flight path for the Balloons afterward.
Air coverage matters more than Inferno placement at TH9
TH9 does not have Inferno Towers, so the major defensive anchors here are the Air Defenses, X-Bows, Archer Queen, Wizard Towers, Teslas, and surrounding point defenses.
The Air Defenses are spread rather than grouped into one easy target. That makes it harder for an air attacker to remove the entire anti-air network with one opening phase.
Electro Dragons and Miners belong to higher Town Hall levels, so they are better considered as over-level attack threats rather than equal-level TH9 counters.
The bottom edge is the main pressure point
The bottom edge appears to offer the easiest funnel.
The bigger weakness is a funnel that becomes too wide. If several adjacent compartments are pressured at once, the base can lose its staged defensive structure faster than intended.
Still, a wide entry can also hurt the attacker. Troops may split, cleanup can slow down, and surviving defenses may remain active in awkward corners.
Why Layout #5 works for Clan War
The strongest quality of TH9 Clan War Base #5 is that securing one objective does not guarantee enough surviving army for the back end.
Its offset Town Hall, compartment-heavy core, separated Air Defenses, and multiple defensive lanes support an anti-three-star strategy based on pathing disruption, scouting pressure, and time management.
