Best Hero Equipment Upgrade Order in Clash of Clans
Hero Equipment can change an attack completely, but upgrading everything at once is usually a bad idea. Ore does not come quickly, especially Glowy and Starry Ore. When you divide it between too many items, you often end up with a large collection of Equipment that is not strong enough to make a real difference.
Since every Hero can use two pieces of Equipment, your upgrade plan should match the armies you actually play. Someone who attacks with Dragons will probably need a different setup from a player who prefers Queen Charges or heavy ground armies. There is no single ranking that works perfectly for everyone.
Best Priority for Air Armies
For Dragon, Electro Dragon, Balloon, and other air-based attacks, the Grand Warden is usually the best place to spend Ore first.
Eternal Tome remains one of the safest upgrades in the game. Its temporary protection can carry a large air army through the Town Hall area, heavy traps, or a cluster of high-damage defenses. It is useful in almost every serious air attack, so upgrading it rarely feels like a waste.
After that, choose between Rage Gem and Lavaloon Puppet. Rage Gem provides steady value throughout the attack, while Lavaloon Puppet may suit players who regularly use Dragon-heavy armies.
A practical air upgrade order would be:
Eternal Tome Rage Gem or Lavaloon Puppet Giant Arrow Healer Puppet Giant Gauntlet Hog Puppet or Electro Boots
Giant Arrow can be excellent when it removes an Air Defense or damages several important buildings in one line. The problem is consistency. A poorly aimed arrow may hit almost nothing, so players who struggle with the angle may get better results from Healer Puppet or Invisibility Vial.
Best Priority for Ground Armies
Ground armies usually need three things: survival, movement, and a clean route through Walls.
Start with Eternal Tome, then decide between Healing Tome and Heroic Torch. Healing Tome is easier to use and provides dependable recovery during a push. Heroic Torch appears more specialized, but it may offer stronger value for compact armies that need to move quickly through several compartments.
For most ground attackers, this order makes sense:
Eternal Tome Healing Tome or Heroic Torch Giant Gauntlet Invisibility Vial Healer Puppet Hog Puppet Royal Gem
The Barbarian King’s Giant Gauntlet is still a strong investment for players who use him as a tank or funnel creator. When the King needs to absorb damage while clearing one side of the village, extra durability can be more valuable than a small damage increase elsewhere.
Best Order for Clan Wars
War attacks are less forgiving than regular farming attacks. A failed ability can cost the entire attack, so Equipment with a major impact should come first.
Prioritize:
Eternal Tome Invisibility Vial Giant Gauntlet Healing Tome or Heroic Torch Healer Puppet Your main Royal Champion combination
One common mistake is upgrading several different combinations for the same Hero. It is usually better to have one strong war setup than four half-finished options.
Best Equipment for Farming
Farming is different. The goal is usually consistent loot, not a perfect three-star attack.
Vampstache can keep the Barbarian King alive during long cleanup routes. Giant Arrow may remove several outside buildings, while Healer Puppet gives the Archer Queen more staying power. Rage Gem is also useful because it works passively and does not require precise timing.
A simple farming order could be:
Vampstache Rage Vial Giant Arrow Healer Puppet Rage Gem Royal Gem
These choices may not be the strongest in competitive wars, but they are comfortable and reliable for repeated multiplayer attacks.
Best Order for Free-to-Play Players
Free-to-play players need to be especially careful with Epic Equipment. Starry Ore is limited, and chasing every new item can leave your main setup unfinished.
A balanced path would be:
Eternal Tome Invisibility Vial Rage Vial Rage Gem Healer Puppet Royal Gem or Hog Puppet One Epic Equipment for your main army Secondary Equipment later
Before spending rare Ore, check your Hero Journey rewards. You may be close to earning Ore, Equipment, or another useful reward without spending anything.
The best strategy is fairly simple: choose your main army, finish its core Equipment, and only then start experimenting. It may feel slower, but it is much better than owning ten weak items that barely affect your attacks.
