TH12 Farming Base #4: Broken-Ring Defense Built Around Resource Separation

TH12 Farming Layout #4 uses a broken-ring structure with the Town Hall protected near the center behind the main storage line. Looking at the base itself, the design feels intentionally irregular. Valuable buildings are spread through several compartments, while the walls create interrupted routes rather than one smooth path around the village.

That makes sense for farming. The base does not need to prevent every storage from being touched. Its more realistic job is to make collecting the second, third, and fourth resource pocket increasingly inconvenient.

The broken ring makes loot harder to connect

The wall pattern is probably the most interesting part of Layout #4.

Several compartments almost form a continuous ring, but the connections are deliberately interrupted. Troops finishing one section may need to change direction, cross another wall, or attack a defensive building before reaching the next storage.

That extra travel can matter quite a bit.

A raider might clear one pocket comfortably, yet the remaining army can start drifting around the ring instead of moving directly toward the deeper resources. From the defender’s perspective, that is useful even if no troops are destroyed immediately. Time is being spent, and the untouched storages remain separated.

The Town Hall sits behind the resource network

The Town Hall is close to the central defensive area, but it does not become the only building the layout cares about.

Storages are positioned on different sides of the village, with Infernos, X-Bows, and other defenses working between them. Because storages have high hit points, they also behave like defensive buffers. Troops can spend several seconds attacking one while nearby towers continue firing.

This gives the base a farming-style form of damage control: one breached compartment does not automatically expose every valuable target.

Air and Inferno coverage supports several routes

The Air Defenses appear positioned to protect crossing lanes rather than leaning heavily toward a single side. The Inferno Towers are also separated enough that one spell plan may not control both comfortably.

That spacing should help the defense stay relevant after the first breakthrough.

Against Dragons or LavaLoon, one portion of the anti-air network may weaken while another remains active farther across the village. Yeti or Bowler Smash and Queen Charge Hybrid create different pressure, but the same principle applies: clearing one defensive section does not immediately make the next storage pocket safe.

The lower-left edge is the main structural concern

The lower-left edge looks like the most natural place to establish a controlled funnel.

The bigger risk is what happens after that opening. If an attacker breaks the ring cleanly before troops begin circling, the route toward the center becomes much more direct. That removes some of the pathing friction the layout depends on.

For the defense, this side ideally needs to consume something valuable—time, hero health, spells, abilities, or troop strength—before the inner compartments are fully opened.

Why Layout #4 works for Farming

The strongest quality of TH12 Farming Base #4 is the distance between its valuable resource sections.

The central Town Hall, broken-ring walls, spread storages, divided Inferno pressure, and crossing Air Defense coverage all support one clear objective: make a full loot sweep considerably harder than taking one successful section.
