TH13 Ranked Base #1: Offset-Diamond Defense Built Around Percentage and Core Control
TH13 Ranked Layout #1 uses an offset-diamond structure with the Town Hall sitting slightly toward the left side of the defensive core. Looking at the actual layout, the village is built around several medium and large compartments rather than one tightly packed center. That creates a defensive shape where different sections can keep working even after another part of the base has already fallen.
For Ranked defense, that is useful. The layout is not simply asking whether the Town Hall survives. It is also trying to control percentage, troop movement, defensive uptime, and the amount of time left for cleanup.
The Town Hall is protected without carrying the whole defense
The Town Hall sits inside a heavily defended inner section, but several important defenses remain separated across neighboring compartments.
That gives the base more staying power.
If the Town Hall area begins to collapse, Inferno Towers, X-Bows, Air Defenses, and other defensive buildings can still remain active elsewhere. One successful section does not automatically remove the entire defensive network.
The slight left-side offset also makes movement through the middle less predictable. Troops entering from one direction may not naturally continue toward the next valuable section, which can create awkward late-raid positioning.
The offset diamond is designed to break troop concentration
The wall structure is probably the most important defensive feature of Layout #1.
Large compartments meet at diagonal angles around the center, creating several competing routes. Once troops move into the defensive network, one group may drift toward a side compartment while another continues toward the core.
From the defender's perspective, that separation is valuable.
Yeti or Bowler Smash formations become much easier to contain once tanks, heroes, and supporting troops stop moving together. The defense gets longer firing windows, while shared spell support becomes less efficient.
Queen Charge Hybrid can create a different kind of pressure, but the defensive principle remains the same: clearing one compartment should not make the next one comfortable.
Air and Inferno coverage stays spread out
The Air Defenses are positioned around different inner lanes, while the Inferno Towers remain separated rather than forming one compact pair.
That spacing reduces easy spell value and helps preserve defensive pressure.
Against Dragons or LavaLoon, one air-defense section may weaken while another remains active across the village. Even when the attacking force is still healthy, it may have to survive several separate defensive zones instead of one short central engagement.
For Ranked play, that matters because every surviving defense can protect additional percentage.
The upper-left corner is the main structural concern
The upper-left edge appears to be the most vulnerable portion of the layout.
The real issue is not simply losing that outside corner. A clean diagonal Queen or hero entry could remove the section and create a shorter route toward the central defensive area.
If that happens too cheaply, some of the offset-diamond pathing advantage disappears.
Defensively, this side needs to make progress expensive through overlapping fire, hidden traps, hero pressure, or simple delay. It does not necessarily need to stop the opening completely; forcing extra time or abilities can already strengthen the rest of the base.
Why Layout #1 fits Ranked defense
The strongest quality of TH13 Ranked Base #1 is the way it makes several priorities compete at once.
The Town Hall pressures stars. The offset diamond interferes with troop concentration. Separated defensive anchors preserve damage across multiple sections, while the outer buildings can keep percentage and cleanup relevant late into the raid.
