TH13 Ranked Base #13: Offset-Diamond Defense with Four-Sided Pressure
TH13 Ranked Layout #13 uses an offset-diamond core with the Town Hall sitting slightly toward the left side of the main defensive area. After looking at the layout itself, what stands out most is the four-sided structure around the center. Large compartments sit above, below, left, and right of the core, which gives the defense several independent places to absorb pressure rather than relying on one packed central box.
For Ranked play, that is useful. The design appears interested in protecting percentage and overall defensive stability, not just keeping the Town Hall standing.
The core is difficult to collapse all at once
The Town Hall remains deep inside the defensive network, supported by nearby high-value defenses but not surrounded by everything in one tiny space.
That slight offset is important. If the Town Hall were perfectly centered in a symmetrical box, troop movement through the middle would be easier to predict. Here, the diamond is uneven enough that units reaching the core may leave it toward different compartments.
The surrounding four sections also act almost like separate defensive stages. Losing one does not automatically open the other three.
That gives Layout #13 some staying power. Even after a strong first phase, the base may still have enough untouched defenses to slow percentage later.
Large compartments are meant to disturb troop concentration
The wall structure is unusually open compared with a tightly packed TH13 core.
At first that may look generous, but defensively it creates a different problem: troops can see several attractive targets at similar distances. One group may drift toward a side compartment while another continues toward the Town Hall.
That separation is where the design can gain value.
Heavy ground formations such as Yeti or Bowler Smash become much easier to manage once tanks, heroes, and support troops stop moving together. The defense does not necessarily need to wipe them out quickly. Making them fight in different sections can be enough to reduce spell efficiency and delay cleanup.
Air and Inferno coverage remains spread out
The Air Defenses are distributed around the inner compartments, while the Inferno Towers are separated rather than positioned as one compact pair.
This makes the defensive network less dependent on a single area surviving.
Against air-heavy armies, pressure can remain active from different directions even after one section weakens. The same idea helps against ground pushes: neutralizing one Inferno does not automatically shut down the next important defensive zone.
For Ranked defense, that distributed pressure matters because every surviving compartment can protect another few percentage points.
The upper-left corner is the structural concern
The upper-left edge appears to be the most vulnerable side of Layout #13.
The main concern is not simply losing that corner. If it disappears too cheaply, the diagonal route toward the inner diamond becomes shorter and some of the layout’s pathing uncertainty is lost.
From a defensive standpoint, this is where traps, overlapping fire, and hero pressure can be especially valuable. The goal is to make that corner expensive enough that the core is not reached by a completely fresh attacking force.
Overall defensive identity
TH13 Ranked Base #13 is best described as a pathing-and-percentage defense.
Its offset Town Hall, four-sided compartment structure, separated Infernos, and distributed air coverage are designed to keep multiple parts of the village relevant throughout the raid. The base may concede progress in one area, but the remaining sections can still force awkward movement and slow the final percentage.
