TH13 Ranked Base #5: Offset-Diamond Defense Built Around Core Control

TH13 Ranked Layout #5 uses a central Town Hall inside an offset-diamond defensive structure, with several large compartments surrounding the primary core. Looking at the actual base, the defensive plan appears to rely less on one overwhelming kill zone and more on keeping different parts of the village relevant throughout the raid.

That suits Ranked play. The Town Hall is heavily protected, but the layout is also trying to deny comfortable percentage, disturb troop movement, and leave enough surviving defenses to make the final cleanup slower than expected.

The Town Hall anchors the deepest defensive zone

The Town Hall sits inside the primary core, behind several wall transitions and supporting defenses.

What makes this placement interesting is the amount of defensive value outside the immediate Town Hall compartment. Inferno Towers, X-Bows, Air Defenses, and other damage sources remain spread through neighboring sections rather than being stacked beside the objective.

This gives the base more defensive endurance. Even if one compartment falls, another can continue applying pressure.

A raid can look comfortable during the opening and still reach the Town Hall area with weakened heroes, missing support troops, or fewer abilities available.

The offset diamond creates uneven defensive routes

The wall structure is probably the strongest feature of Layout #5.

Several compartments meet at diagonal angles around the center. That creates different target choices and may cause attacking troops to separate as they move deeper into the base.

For the defense, that is useful.

Yeti or Bowler Smash formations become significantly less threatening once tanks, heroes, and supporting troops stop fighting together. The same concept matters against Queen Charge Hybrid: if different groups arrive at the core at different times, the defensive towers gain longer firing windows.

The walls are therefore not simply barriers. They help determine where and when attacking troops meet the strongest defenses.

Air and Inferno coverage stays divided

The Air Defenses appear positioned to protect different crossing lanes, while the Inferno Towers are separated enough to reduce easy single-spell value.

That spacing makes the defense harder to shut down all at once.

Against Dragons or LavaLoon, one air-defense lane may weaken while another remains active farther across the village. The goal is sustained defensive pressure rather than depending on one concentrated section.

This also helps protect percentage after the Town Hall phase, which is especially valuable in Ranked defense.

The upper-left corner carries the main structural risk

The upper-left edge looks like the most manageable side of the layout.

The real defensive concern is a diagonal Queen or hero entry that removes that corner and shortens the route toward the center. If the corner disappears too cheaply, the offset diamond becomes easier to read and some of its pathing advantage is lost.

From the defensive side, this area needs to consume something—time, hero health, abilities, or troop strength—before the core comes under serious pressure.

It does not necessarily need an immediate stop. Making the opening inefficient may already strengthen everything behind it.

Why Layout #5 fits Ranked defense

The strongest quality of TH13 Ranked Base #5 is the tension between safe percentage and direct pressure on the main objective.

The central Town Hall demands commitment. The offset-diamond compartments interfere with troop concentration, while separated Air Defenses and Infernos keep defensive pressure alive across different sections.
