TH13 Ranked Base #11: Offset-Diamond Defense Built Around Pathing and Timing Pressure

TH13 Ranked Layout #11 uses an offset-diamond structure with the Town Hall positioned slightly toward the right side of the defensive core. Looking at the base itself, the layout feels intentionally uneven. Large compartments surround a tighter inner network, while important defenses are distributed across different lanes instead of being stacked into one central block.

For Ranked defense, that makes sense. The base appears designed to protect more than the Town Hall. Its real strength is making percentage, troop positioning, and remaining time increasingly difficult to manage as the raid moves deeper.

The Town Hall sits inside layered defensive pressure

The Town Hall is protected within the right-central part of the village, behind several wall sections and supporting defenses.

What makes this placement useful is that the rest of the defensive value is not concentrated directly beside it. Inferno Towers, Air Defenses, X-Bows, and other important structures remain active in neighboring compartments.

That means losing one pocket does not necessarily collapse the entire core.

The defense can gradually wear down an army instead. Heroes may lose health in one section, support troops can disappear in another, and the remaining force may reach the Town Hall without the same strength it had at the start.

The offset diamond is mainly a pathing defense

The wall arrangement is probably the most important part of Layout #11.

Several compartments meet at diagonal angles, creating multiple possible troop routes around the center. Once the attacking force moves inside, different defensive targets can begin pulling groups apart.

From the defender's perspective, that is valuable.

A concentrated army is difficult to contain. A divided one is much easier. If front-line troops move toward one compartment while heroes or support units drift somewhere else, defensive towers gain more firing time and shared spell value becomes less efficient.

This is where the offset-diamond shape earns most of its defensive value.

Air and Inferno coverage stays separated

The Air Defenses appear to protect different entry lanes, while the Inferno Towers function as separate inner anchors rather than one compact pair.

That spacing helps prevent too much defensive pressure from disappearing at once.

Against Dragon or LavaLoon-style armies, one part of the air network may weaken while another remains active farther across the village. Yeti/Bowler Smash and Queen Charge Hybrid create different threats, but the defensive principle is similar: one successful compartment should not make the entire core harmless.

The upper-left corner is the structural concern

The upper-left edge appears to be the most vulnerable part of the layout.

Its importance goes beyond the outer buildings. If that corner is removed too cheaply, a shorter diagonal route toward the core can appear, reducing some of the pathing uncertainty the base depends on.

Defensively, this section therefore needs to consume something valuable—time, hero health, abilities, or troop strength—before the inner diamond is exposed.

The goal is not necessarily to stop progress immediately. Making that progress expensive may already be enough.

Why Layout #11 fits Ranked

The strongest quality of TH13 Ranked Base #11 is how it turns troop pathing into a timing problem.

The offset Town Hall pressures stars, the diamond compartments encourage troop separation, and the distributed defenses keep multiple parts of the village relevant late into the raid.
