TH14 Clan War Base #9: Multi-Compartment Defense Built Around Split Pressure

TH14 Clan War Layout #9 uses a multi-compartment structure with the Town Hall offset toward the right side of the defensive core. Looking at the actual base first, the design seems less interested in creating one impossible central bunker and more focused on making the attacking army lose efficiency as the raid develops.

Several important defenses sit in separate pockets, with enough distance between them that clearing one section does not automatically remove the pressure from another. For Clan War, that is useful. The layout can give away some early value and still have enough structure left to challenge the third star.

The Town Hall is separated from the rest of the defensive value

The Town Hall sits toward the right side rather than exactly in the center.

That placement makes the village harder to solve with one straight push. Even if the Town Hall section eventually falls, a large portion of the defensive network can remain active elsewhere.

This seems intentional.

A war base does not necessarily need the Town Hall to survive every attack. Sometimes the better defensive trade is making the objective expensive enough that the remaining army reaches the back end with fewer spells, weaker heroes, or reduced support.

Layout #9 appears to follow that philosophy.

Multiple compartments keep the base alive in stages

The wall structure creates several medium-sized defensive zones rather than one oversized core.

From the defender’s point of view, this is probably one of the stronger features of the base. Troops moving through the middle are repeatedly forced to retarget, change direction, and cross into another compartment.

That can stretch an attacking formation.

Yeti or Bowler Smash armies, for example, are much more dangerous when the whole group stays compact. If some troops move sideways while heroes continue deeper, the defense gets extra time to focus smaller groups.

Queen Charge Hybrid can create another type of pressure, but the same defensive principle applies: losing one compartment should not make the rest of the village collapse automatically.

Infernos and Air Defenses create separate threat zones

The Air Defenses and Inferno Towers are deliberately spread instead of forming one tidy cluster.

That spacing helps preserve defensive pressure.

Against Dragons or LavaLoon, one air-defense zone may be neutralized while another remains active across a different section of the base. Ground attacks face the same problem with the Infernos: controlling one threat does not necessarily make the next compartment safe.

This distributed coverage is important because it keeps the base dangerous through several phases of the raid instead of relying on one short burst of damage.

The bottom edge is the main defensive pressure point

The bottom edge appears to be the most approachable side of Layout #9.

That does not automatically make it a bad defensive side. In fact, an inviting entry can sometimes work in the base’s favor if the attacking formation becomes too wide.

When troops split between adjacent compartments, concentrated damage drops and spell coverage becomes less efficient. The raid may still look healthy, but different groups are now fighting separate battles.

The real concern is the opposite situation: if the bottom section falls too cleanly while the main force stays compact, the deeper compartments may face too much attacking strength at once.
