TH14 Clan War Base #23: Multi-Compartment Defense Built for Star Prevention
TH14 Clan War Layout #23 uses a wide multi-compartment structure with the Town Hall offset toward the right side of the village. After looking closely at the actual base, the defensive idea appears to be less about creating one brutal central compartment and more about making the attacking army deal with several independent pressure zones.
That gives the layout a clear war purpose. Even if one section falls, enough defensive value should remain elsewhere to keep the third star uncertain.
The offset Town Hall separates the main objective
The Town Hall sits on the right side of the inner defensive network rather than directly in the geometric center.
This separation is useful defensively because the Town Hall is not bundled together with every other high-value target. A force heavily committed to that section may still leave important defenses active deeper in the village.
In other words, losing the Town Hall does not necessarily mean losing control of the entire base.
For Clan War, that trade can be worthwhile. The layout seems designed to make objective security and full three-star completion feel like two different problems.
Multiple compartments keep the defense alive in stages
The wall structure divides the village into many medium and smaller compartments.
That is probably one of Layout #23's strongest defensive features.
Each section can operate almost independently. When one pocket falls, troops still have to change direction before reaching the next group of defenses. This repeated retargeting can stretch an attacking formation and separate heroes, tanks, and support troops.
That matters against Yeti or Bowler Smash armies, which become much more dangerous when the whole formation stays together. The defense is trying to break that concentration before the central sections are overwhelmed.
Air and Inferno coverage avoids one easy spell zone
The Air Defenses are staggered around different parts of the core, while Inferno Towers act as separate high-value anchors.
This spacing should prevent one well-timed control spell from neutralizing too much of the defensive network at once.
Against Dragons or LavaLoon, the idea is sustained air pressure. One defensive lane may weaken, but another remains active farther across the base.
Queen Charge Hybrid faces a similar defensive challenge: clearing one compartment does not necessarily remove the threats protecting the next section.
The bottom edge creates an interesting defensive tradeoff
The bottom edge appears to be the easiest side to shape, making it the most obvious pressure point in the layout.
For the defense, the danger is a very clean opening that allows the main army to remain compact.
But a wide funnel can create the opposite result. Troops may begin splitting between neighboring compartments, reducing concentrated damage and forcing spells to support smaller groups.
That troop separation is exactly what Layout #23 appears designed to encourage.
Why Layout #23 works for Clan War
The strongest quality of TH14 Clan War Base #23 is its ability to keep several defensive problems alive at the same time.
The offset Town Hall demands attention. Multi-compartment walls disrupt pathing. Separated Infernos preserve damage, while staggered Air Defenses keep pressure active across different lanes. Even surviving troops may finish in poor positions for the remaining buildings.
