TH14 Clan War Base #15: Asymmetric Diamond Defense Built Around Pathing Uncertainty

TH14 Clan War Layout #15 uses an asymmetric diamond structure with the Town Hall positioned near the edge of the inner core rather than buried at the exact center. Looking closely at the base itself, that choice appears deliberate. The layout spreads defensive value across several uneven compartments, so losing one important area does not necessarily open the entire village.

This is very much an anti-three-star design. The Town Hall matters, but the defense seems more concerned with what happens to troop movement after the first major section falls.

The Town Hall creates commitment without carrying the whole defense

The Town Hall sits close to the edge of the inner defensive network, surrounded by enough support to make it dangerous without pulling every high-value defense into the same pocket.

That separation is useful in war.

Even if the Town Hall eventually goes down, Inferno Towers, Air Defenses, X-Bows, Scattershots, and other threats can remain active across different parts of the diamond. The base therefore avoids placing all of its defensive value behind one result.

In practical terms, the Town Hall acts as one defensive problem rather than the entire problem.

The asymmetric shape creates uneven troop routes

The most interesting feature of Layout #15 is probably its irregular diamond pathing.

The left, right, upper, and lower sections do not create identical routes toward the center. Some compartments are deeper, while others offer shorter transitions between targets. That unevenness can cause attacking troops to leave their original formation.

One group may move deeper while another drifts sideways toward a nearby defense.

For the defender, that is exactly the kind of split this base wants. Yeti or Bowler Smash formations are much less threatening once tanks, heroes, and supporting troops stop travelling together. Queen Charge Hybrid can face a similar issue when the later force enters a base that still has several independent defensive pockets alive.

Infernos and Air Defenses keep separate pressure zones

The Air Defenses and Inferno Towers are deliberately spread rather than packed into one tidy cluster.

That matters because it reduces the amount of defensive value that can disappear at once.

Against Dragons or LavaLoon, one section may be weakened while another air-defense zone remains active farther across the village. Ground armies face the same principle: controlling one Inferno does not automatically neutralize the next defensive pocket.

The defense is trying to stay dangerous through several phases rather than relying on one huge central burst.

The right side is the main structural concern

The right edge appears to be the most exposed part of the structure.

Its shorter diagonal gives the defensive network less space to build overlapping pressure before the inner compartments become involved. If that side collapses too quickly, the asymmetric diamond can become easier to read and the pathing uncertainty begins to disappear.

For the defense, this makes the right-side compartments especially important. They need to consume something—time, troop strength, hero health, abilities, or spells—before the deeper structure is threatened.

Even a modest delay can make the remaining defenses considerably more effective.

Why Layout #15 fits Clan War

The defensive value of TH14 Clan War Base #15 comes from protecting the final star through pathing uncertainty, separated defensive value, and awkward transitions rather than relying on surprise alone.
