TH18 Clan War Base #17: Asymmetric Diamond and Short-Diagonal Pressure

Town Hall 18 Clan War Layout #17 uses an uneven diamond shape that feels more like a set of connected lanes than a single central fortress. The Town Hall sits close to the edge of the inner core, which is an important detail. It can be reached without clearing the entire base, yet the route toward it does not naturally carry an army through every valuable defense behind it. That separation is probably the main reason this design works as a war base.

The left edge looks like the most sensible place to begin scouting. There is enough space to remove outside buildings, shape a narrow funnel, and decide whether the main push should travel through the shorter diagonal or bend toward the center. Even so, the entry is not completely comfortable. Clearing too much on one side may open several targets at once, and troops can start drifting before the real push has developed.

The asymmetric wall pattern makes that problem more noticeable. Compartments meet at different angles instead of following a neat square grid, so the path through the base can change after each wall break. A Root Rider or heavy ground smash army may cross the first layer without much trouble, but support troops are not guaranteed to follow. If healers, heroes, or ranged units stop on nearby buildings, the front line can arrive near the Town Hall with less help than expected.

The shorter diagonal appears to be the clearest weakness. Defensive buildings along that route have less room to overlap, which may allow a focused attack to remove several targets in quick succession. I would still hesitate to call it an easy lane. Hidden traps or a defending Clan Castle could slow the opening, and an attacker who widens the funnel too much might divide the army across both halves of the diamond.

Queen Charge Hybrid seems like one of the more controlled counters. A Queen starting on the left could remove a defensive pocket, reduce pressure, and create a clearer route for Miners and Hog Riders. The plan would depend heavily on timing. If the Queen spends too long breaking through a wall or turns toward an outside storage, the Hybrid phase may begin late and leave the far side untouched.

Air armies face a different decision. Air Defenses are distributed across opposite sections, while Inferno Towers appear to influence separate routes into the core. That spacing makes it difficult to solve the whole base with one early Rage or Freeze. Dragons may still work after the left corner is trimmed, although a loose deployment could send several of them around the outer ring. LavaLoon offers more precise targeting, but it needs a careful sequence for the central threats and the defenses beyond the Town Hall.

What makes this layout interesting is the choice it gives the attacker. A safer plan may secure the Town Hall and two stars, but leave strong defenses alive on the back end. A more ambitious triple attempt has to preserve spells, heroes, and cleanup troops while moving through awkward angles. In Clan War, that tension matters more than simple symmetry.
