TH5 Farming Base number 5 – Split Resource Protection and Compact Core Analysis

This TH5 farming base looks fairly open when you first see it, but the important buildings are packed into a much tighter defensive area. The Town Hall sits near the middle, surrounded by walls, defenses, and resource buildings. The overall idea appears to be less about stopping every attacker outright and more about making a quick loot grab turn into a longer, more expensive raid.

The resource placement is probably the first thing worth noticing. The two Elixir Storages are not sitting together in the same compartment. One is positioned toward the upper-left area, while the other sits farther down the layout. That separation may save some loot when an attacker commits heavily to only one side.

It also changes the path troops have to take.

A Giant-based army entering from the top could lock onto the nearby defensive buildings while Goblins, Archers, or Wizards stop to clear the first storage. If the attacker has not shaped the funnel properly, those groups may gradually separate. Giants keep moving toward defenses; the support troops remain behind. At TH5, that small pathing problem can make a noticeable difference.

The Town Hall itself is protected by a compact central wall structure. It is not sitting directly beside the deployment area, and reaching it usually means dealing with at least part of the defensive network first. I would not call the core extremely deep, but for a TH5 farming layout it appears reasonably protected.

The walls are also used to create several smaller pockets rather than one large open room. That is useful because breaking one section does not automatically give troops unrestricted access to the whole village. Wall Breakers may open the first route, but ground troops can still turn toward different targets once they enter.

Splash damage should help against exactly that kind of crowded attack. The Mortar and Wizard Tower are positioned where they can pressure groups moving through the interior. Barbarians, Archers, Goblins, and supporting Wizards are all much easier to remove when they bunch together around a storage or wall opening.

Storages add another subtle defensive advantage: time. They have far more hit points than many smaller buildings. While troops spend several seconds trying to destroy one, nearby Cannons, Archer Towers, and splash defenses continue firing. A cheap farming army may get the first storage, then arrive at the next compartment already weakened.

There are some weaknesses. Several buildings outside the walls are relatively easy to remove, so an attacker can collect percentage and shape a funnel without taking much early damage. The compact center can also work against the defender—if a strong army reaches the core in good condition, several valuable buildings are close enough to fall quickly.

Still, this is a sensible TH5 farming layout. Its main defensive value comes from separating the resources, slowing access with multiple compartments, using high-hitpoint storages as delays, and creating enough pathing disruption that a rushed farming army may not reach everything. Even if the base loses the battle, forcing the attacker to leave some loot behind is still a useful result for a farming design.
