TH5 Ranked Base number 2 – Layered Core and Defensive Pathing Analysis
This TH5 Ranked base is compact, but it does not feel overly cramped. The Town Hall sits well inside the wall structure, while several defensive buildings are spread around it rather than being stacked in one corner. At this level, that kind of separation can be surprisingly useful because attacking armies have fewer tools for correcting bad troop movement once the battle starts.
The Town Hall is clearly one of the main protected targets. It sits behind the first wall layer and has several buildings around it that can slow troops before they reach the center. An attacker may open the outer compartment fairly quickly, but that does not automatically give a clean path through the rest of the base.
I think the internal wall arrangement is probably the strongest part of the design.
Instead of using one large room, the layout divides the interior into several smaller sections. Giants entering from the left, for example, may turn toward the closest Cannon or Archer Tower rather than continue directly toward the Town Hall. Meanwhile, Archers or Wizards following behind can stop on a storage or another building.
If that happens, the attack starts losing its shape.
This matters at TH5 because Giants usually need their support troops nearby. Once they move too far ahead, defensive buildings can focus on them while the damage troops behind are exposed to splash or direct fire. A carefully prepared funnel can reduce that problem, but rushed Ranked attacks may not always be so controlled.
The Mortar placement also deserves some attention. It is kept inside the defensive structure rather than being an easy perimeter target. That should allow it to remain active during a good portion of the attack, putting pressure on grouped Barbarians, Archers, or Wizards as they move toward the middle.
High-hitpoint storage buildings add another layer of delay. They may not look like defensive structures, but troops can spend several seconds destroying one while nearby defenses continue firing. At TH5, even a short stall can matter because armies are relatively small and there is less room to lose support troops early.
The defensive coverage is not completely centered around the Town Hall either. Several buildings remain useful on the sides, which means reaching the core does not instantly remove every threat. That can create some cleanup pressure if an attacker loses too many troops during the initial entry.
There are weaknesses. The base is fairly compact, so once a strong army gains control of the center, several important buildings are within short walking distance. Some outside structures are also easy percentage, and an experienced attacker may understand the general pathing after studying the layout.
Still, this looks like a sensible TH5 Ranked defense. Its main strengths are central Town Hall protection, compartment-based pathing, protected splash damage, high-hitpoint delays, and defensive coverage that remains active from several directions. It will not stop every well-planned attack, but it appears well suited to punishing rushed deployment and attacks where Giants move away from their supporting troops.
