TH5 Ranked Base number 6 – Compartment Defense and Core Pathing Analysis
This TH5 Ranked base is compact, but it does not feel like a simple “walls around everything” layout. The Town Hall is kept inside the main defensive structure, while smaller compartments divide the surrounding defenses and storages. That means an attacker can make a successful first entry and still have some decisions to make before the center is completely opened.
The Town Hall is positioned fairly deep in the layout. It is not sitting near an outside edge where a small group of troops could reach it quickly. Several defensive targets sit between the deployment area and the core, which may pull Giants away from the exact route an attacker planned.
That pathing is probably the part I find most useful here.
A Giant group entering from the lower side, for example, could start chasing the nearest Cannon or Archer Tower instead of heading straight toward the Town Hall. Meanwhile, Archers or Wizards behind them may stop to clear a storage or another building. Suddenly the tanks are moving one way and the support troops another. At TH5, that separation can hurt because there are fewer spare troops available to fix a messy push.
The walls reinforce this behavior. Instead of one large compartment, the base uses several smaller sections. Opening one wall gives access to part of the village, not everything. An attacker may need another Wall Breaker entry or extra time walking around a compartment before reaching the next important target.
Splash damage is especially valuable at this level. The Mortar is positioned where it can pressure groups of low-health troops once they move closer to the interior. Barbarians, Archers, or Wizards that stay tightly grouped behind Giants may take repeated splash hits while the tanks are busy elsewhere.
Storages also play a defensive role. In Ranked play, they are useful not only because of what they hold, but because they take longer to destroy than many smaller buildings. Troops can spend several seconds hitting one storage while the surrounding defenses continue firing. Those delays look minor on paper, but they can slowly drain an attacking army before it reaches the core.
There is a trade-off in the resource placement. Some valuable buildings are closer together on one side, so an attacker who identifies that section and creates a clean entry may get good value from a single push. The compact footprint also means that once the inner walls are opened, several important targets are not far apart.
Outside buildings are another mixed feature. They give away relatively easy percentage, but they can also interfere with funneling. Troops deployed too widely may start walking around the perimeter instead of entering the intended compartment.
Overall, this is a practical TH5 Ranked base rather than a layout built around one gimmick. Its defensive quality comes from small compartments, protected central objectives, useful splash coverage, high-hitpoint delays, and ground pathing that can punish an imprecise funnel. A disciplined attacker can still break it, but careless deployment is likely to make the attack much less controlled than the base's simple shape first suggests.
