TH5 Clan War Base number 3 – Tight Core, Split Lanes and Splash Pressure
The first thing I notice about this TH5 Clan War base is how little space it wastes around the center. The Town Hall sits deep inside the layout, but the walls do not form one oversized box around it. Instead, the village is divided into several connected compartments. That gives ground troops more chances to change direction after the first breach.
For war defense, that is probably the most useful feature here.
A direct push toward the Town Hall looks possible, especially from the lower side, but getting the whole army to follow that route is another question. Giants will keep searching for defensive buildings, and the Cannons and Archer Towers are placed at different depths. One group may turn toward a side defense while Wizards or Archers behind them stop to clear another building.
Once the tanks and support troops separate, even a small TH5 base can become annoying.
The central area also looks fairly well supported. The Town Hall is not isolated, and the Clan Castle appears to sit close enough to the core that defending troops should remain relevant during the main part of an attack. If Clan Castle reinforcements are loaded, an attacker may need to account for them rather than treating the middle as a simple cleanup zone.
One detail that stands out is the right side. Both Elixir Storages are positioned there, with a Wizard Tower nearby. In Clan War, the resources inside the storages are irrelevant, but the buildings themselves are useful because of their high hit points. Troops can spend several seconds working through them while the Wizard Tower and nearby defenses keep firing.
That creates a decent splash-damage pocket.
The Mortar is positioned deeper toward the middle as well, which should help against groups of Barbarians, Archers, or Wizards following behind Giants. At TH5, losing five or six support troops to a couple of well-timed splash hits can change the attack faster than people expect.
Air defense is not simply handed over on the perimeter either. An attacker using Balloons should normally have to commit into the defended area before removing the main anti-air threat, while Archer Towers continue contributing damage from different angles.
There are weaknesses. The layout is compact, so once a strong attacker opens the central compartments with enough troops still alive, several important buildings are close together. The right side may also look attractive because of the two storages sitting in the same general area. A well-planned entry there could gain good value.
Still, the base does not need to be impossible to break to be useful. Its defensive idea is more practical: keep the Town Hall under layered protection, split ground pathing between several compartments, use storages to stall troops, and preserve splash damage long enough to punish grouped support units.
For TH5 Clan War, that is a sensible setup. A patient attacker can certainly work through it, but rushed Wall Breakers, a weak funnel, or Giants moving ahead without support may turn an apparently easy attack into a much less comfortable three-star attempt.
