TH9 Clan War Base #3: Multi-Compartment Defense Built Around Split Core Pressure
TH9 Clan War Layout #3 uses a multi-compartment structure with the Town Hall offset toward the right side of the core. Looking at the base itself, the defense feels intentionally compact without putting every important target on the same route. The Town Hall, X-Bows, Air Defenses, Archer Queen, Wizard Towers, storages, and other defenses occupy different pockets, which can make a seemingly simple entry much harder to convert into a full three-star attack.
For Clan War, that is a useful trade. The base may allow an attacker to secure one objective, but preserving enough army for the back end is a separate challenge.
The offset Town Hall changes the natural route
The Town Hall sits inside the defensive network but slightly right of center.
That placement may pull troops away from a perfectly straight core push. An army approaching from the opposite side can encounter several valuable defenses before reaching the Town Hall, while a direct Town Hall attack may leave important defensive pockets untouched.
The base therefore creates a choice: secure the objective early, or preserve more strength for the rest of the village.
Neither route appears completely comfortable.
Multiple compartments can break troop concentration
The walls divide the village into a collection of small defensive sections. Once troops enter, several targets can become available at similar distances.
That is where pathing starts to matter.
If the funnel is too wide, one group may drift through a side compartment while the main force continues toward the core. A healthy army can still lose efficiency when its troops are fighting in different areas.
At TH9, this is especially relevant against Hog attacks. Hogs perform best when their route stays predictable and Heal Spells cover large groups. A split between adjacent defenses can quickly reduce that efficiency.
Queen Charge LavaLoon is another realistic counter, although the Queen phase would need to remove useful defensive value while creating a sensible path for the Balloons afterward.
Air Defense placement matters more at TH9
There are no Inferno Towers at Town Hall 9, so the real defensive anchors here are the Air Defenses, X-Bows, Archer Queen, Wizard Towers, Teslas, and supporting point defenses.
The Air Defenses are spread across different sections rather than sitting in one easy cluster. That makes a single opening less likely to neutralize the entire anti-air network.
Miner Hybrid and Electro Dragons are higher-Town-Hall options, so they are better treated as over-level threats rather than true equal-level TH9 counters.
The top edge is the main pressure point
The top edge appears to offer the easiest funnel.
The structural concern is a funnel that becomes too wide. If several compartments are opened together, the staged defensive setup can weaken quickly.
There is a flip side, though. A wide attack can also scatter troops. One group may stay outside while another moves inward, creating exactly the kind of time pressure this base wants.
Why Layout #3 works for Clan War
The strength of TH9 Clan War Base #3 comes from forcing a choice between objective security and preserving enough army for cleanup.
Its offset Town Hall, compartment-heavy core, separated Air Defenses, and uneven troop routes support an anti-three-star strategy based on pathing disruption, defensive persistence, scouting pressure, and time management.
