TH13 Clan War Base #8: Open Anti-Three-Star Defense Built Around Layered Pressure

TH13 Clan War Layout #8 uses an open anti-three-star structure with the Town Hall offset toward the upper side rather than sitting perfectly in the middle. After studying the base itself, the design appears to value defensive separation more than simple symmetry. The Town Hall is important, but several high-value defenses remain positioned in other compartments, so one successful breakthrough does not automatically dismantle the entire village.

That is what gives this layout its Clan War character. The defense seems willing to concede some early progress if the remaining sections can make the third star considerably harder.

The Town Hall creates commitment without carrying the whole defense

The Town Hall sits inside the stronger inner network, but it is not bundled together with every important defensive target.

This is a useful anti-three-star choice.

If the Town Hall section eventually falls, Inferno Towers, Air Defenses, X-Bows, Scattershots, and surrounding defenses can still remain active elsewhere. In practical terms, the attacking army may secure the objective and still have another serious defensive phase waiting.

The base therefore tries to make the Town Hall expensive rather than impossible. Forcing hero health, abilities, troop losses, or extra time around that section can already strengthen the remaining defense.

The open structure creates several independent pressure zones

The wall layout contains a mix of smaller inner compartments and wider outside sections.

Rather than forcing every troop through one narrow corridor, these compartments can pull units toward different defensive targets. From the defender's perspective, that is valuable because troop separation reduces the amount of concentrated power reaching the core.

The lower half of the base is especially interesting. Several defensive pockets remain separated behind their own wall lines, which means surviving troops may have to keep changing direction instead of moving through one uninterrupted lane.

That constant retargeting can quietly create time pressure.

Infernos and Air Defenses are deliberately separated

The Air Defenses are spread around the inner compartments rather than concentrated on one side. Inferno Towers are also positioned far enough apart that they behave as individual defensive anchors.

This reduces easy spell value.

If one defensive area is controlled, another can remain active from a different angle. That matters because Layout #8 is trying to maintain damage through several stages of the raid rather than depending on one short burst from the center.

Against air-heavy pressure, the same idea applies: losing one part of the anti-air network does not automatically remove coverage from the opposite side.

The lower-right edge carries the most defensive risk

The lower-right edge looks like the most accessible section of the structure.

The real concern is not simply losing buildings there. The bigger defensive risk is allowing an entry that reaches the offset objective too efficiently while preserving most of the attacking force.

If that happens, the layout loses part of its anti-three-star advantage.

From a defensive standpoint, this side needs to create friction—overlapping fire, awkward target choices, trap pressure, or simply enough delay that the central and back-end defenses receive more time to work.

Why Layout #8 fits Clan War

The strongest feature of TH13 Clan War Base #8 is the separation between the Town Hall and the defensive value an attacker would ideally remove alongside it.

The offset objective creates one problem. The open compartments create another. Separated Infernos and Air Defenses preserve pressure, while distant remaining sections can turn the final percentage into a cleanup race.
