TH13 Clan War Base #22: Offset-Ring Defense Built to Protect the Third Star

TH13 Clan War Layout #22 uses an offset-ring structure with the Town Hall separated slightly toward the left side of the main defensive network. After studying the base itself, the layout looks deliberately layered rather than simply symmetrical. The Town Hall is important, but the defense does not place every high-value building beside it. Instead, several strong compartments remain active around the central ring.

That gives the base a clear Clan War purpose. It appears willing to risk progress in one section if the remaining defenses can disrupt the rest of the raid and protect the third star.

The Town Hall is only one part of the defensive problem

The Town Hall sits inside the inner defensive structure but away from several other major targets. That separation is useful because losing the Town Hall compartment should not immediately remove the strongest remaining firepower.

Inferno Towers, X-Bows, Air Defenses, and other defensive buildings continue covering different sections of the base. So even if the objective eventually falls, surviving troops may still have to cross fresh defensive zones afterward.

This is where the anti-three-star logic becomes more noticeable. The layout is less interested in one dramatic stop and more focused on making each stage of the raid cost something.

The offset ring is designed to disturb troop movement

The wall pattern around the center is probably the strongest feature of Layout #22.

Several compartments form an uneven ring, creating multiple directions for troops to follow. One part of an attacking force may begin circling around the core while another group moves inward.

From the defender's perspective, that split is valuable.

Yeti or Bowler Smash formations are far more dangerous when tanks, heroes, and support troops remain together. Once they begin fighting in separate compartments, concentrated damage falls and shared spell value becomes less efficient.

The layout is therefore using the walls as a pathing tool, not merely as a barrier.

Defensive coverage remains active in different zones

The Air Defenses appear positioned to cover crossing lanes, while the Inferno Towers are spaced far enough apart to behave as separate defensive anchors.

That reduces the chance of several important threats being controlled at the same time.

Against Dragons or LavaLoon, one section of the anti-air network may weaken while another remains active elsewhere. Queen Charge Hybrid faces a similar defensive problem: breaking one compartment does not automatically make the rest of the core safe.

The result is sustained pressure rather than one short defensive burst.

The lower-left section is the main structural concern

The lower-left edge looks like the most exposed part of the layout.

The real danger is not simply losing a few buildings there. If the ring beside the offset objective is opened too early, troop movement becomes easier to control and the defense loses some of its ability to send units around different sections.

For the defender, this area needs to consume time, troop strength, hero health, or abilities before the central structure loses its shape.

Why Layout #22 fits Clan War

The strength of TH13 Clan War Base #22 comes from forcing several parts of a three-star attempt to succeed in the correct order.

The Town Hall demands commitment. The offset ring creates pathing uncertainty. Separated defensive anchors keep pressure alive, while surviving outer compartments can become awkward cleanup targets.
