TH4 Farming Base number 1 – Compact Core and Resource Protection Analysis
This TH4 farming base is compact, but it does not treat every building the same. Most of the limited wall space is used around the Town Hall, storages, and key defenses, while lower-value structures sit farther outside. For a farming setup, that seems like a sensible priority: the attacker can pick up some easy buildings, but reaching the resources requires a more committed push.
The Town Hall sits near the middle of the layout and works as the anchor for the whole defensive structure. It is not buried behind endless layers—TH4 simply does not have enough walls for that—but troops still need to enter the defended area before reaching it comfortably.
The two Elixir Storages are positioned toward the lower half of the core, with walls and other buildings separating their approaches. They are fairly close, so a strong push from the bottom could threaten both. Still, they are protected deeply enough that a few Barbarians or Archers dropped around the edge are unlikely to reach them cheaply.
That is where the smaller compartments become useful.
Giants entering from one side may turn toward the nearest Cannon or Archer Tower rather than moving exactly where the attacker intended. Meanwhile, Archers or other support troops can stop on collectors, storages, or outside buildings. If the funnel is rushed, the attack may start splitting into separate groups before it reaches the center.
At TH4, that matters more than it might sound. Armies are still relatively small, so losing a handful of supporting troops early can make the second half of the raid noticeably weaker.
The storages themselves also help defensively because they take longer to destroy than many ordinary buildings. Troops standing on an Elixir or Gold Storage remain under defensive fire for several extra seconds. Cannons, Archer Towers, and the Mortar can make good use of that delay.
The Mortar is particularly important against low-health troop groups. Barbarians and Archers often bunch together when they enter through the same opening. If they stay grouped while Giants are busy elsewhere, splash damage can remove several units at once and slow the raid down quickly.
I also like that the defenses are spread around different sides of the core instead of being stacked in one corner. That means breaking through one side does not immediately shut down all defensive pressure. Troops crossing toward the opposite storage may still be taking fire.
There are some weaknesses. The layout is compact, so once a strong army gets control of the center, several valuable buildings are fairly close together. Outside buildings also offer easy percentage and can help a patient attacker shape a cleaner funnel before committing the main force.
Even so, this looks like a practical TH4 farming layout. Its defensive value comes from protecting the main resource area, using small wall compartments to disrupt pathing, keeping defenses active around the core, and making attackers spend more troops if they want every storage. It may not stop every raid, but forcing an attacker to leave with only part of the available loot is already a useful result for a farming base.
