TH4 Ranked Base number 4 – Staggered Core and Split Storage Defense Analysis

This TH4 Ranked base has a slightly awkward shape, and that may actually be its best defensive quality. The Town Hall sits inside the main structure rather than against the edge, while the walls create a narrow sequence of compartments running from the upper section toward the bottom. It is not perfectly symmetrical, so the easiest route into the village is not immediately obvious.

The two Elixir Storages are separated rather than placed together. One sits toward the upper part of the base, while the other is protected farther down. At TH4, these high-hitpoint buildings can do more than simply hold resources. They also slow attacking troops and give nearby defenses a few extra seconds to work.

That delay matters, especially against Giant-based attacks.

Giants will keep searching for defensive buildings instead of following the Town Hall directly. Because the Cannons, Archer Towers, Mortar, and other defenses are positioned at different depths, Giants entering from one side may turn away from the route the attacker expected. Archers or Barbarians behind them can then become occupied with storages or outside buildings.

Once those groups separate, the attack becomes less controlled.

The walls reinforce that problem. A successful first breach does not completely open the base. Troops still have to move around another wall section or find a different entry into the next compartment. At TH4, attackers have fewer troops and fewer Wall Breakers to spend, so using them poorly on the first layer may become costly later.

The Mortar is particularly important in a layout like this. Its splash damage can pressure groups of Archers or Barbarians while Giants are busy on other targets. Since lower Town Hall armies often contain plenty of low-health troops, keeping the Mortar active for a reasonable part of the battle can make a noticeable difference.

Air defense also deserves some attention. Balloon attacks are a realistic threat at this level, and the key anti-air coverage is kept within the defended area rather than being completely handed over on the perimeter. Archer Towers provide additional air damage from different positions, so Balloons should normally spend some time under fire before reaching the core.

There are weaknesses. Several outside buildings can be collected cheaply for percentage and can help an experienced attacker shape a clean funnel. The base is also fairly compact, so once the inner compartments are opened, the remaining important buildings are not very far apart.

Still, the layout makes sense for TH4 Ranked play. Its defense relies on a protected Town Hall, staggered compartments, separated high-hitpoint storages, splash pressure, and pathing that can pull Giants away from their supporting troops.

It is not an unbeatable base—and claiming that would not be realistic. What it does appear to do well is punish rushed deployment. An attacker who chooses the wrong entry, wastes Wall Breakers, or lets Giants move ahead without enough support may find the final part of the attack much harder than the small size of the village initially suggests.
