TH8 Clan War Base number 1 – Central Core and Anti-Three-Star Defense Analysis

This TH8 Clan War base has a fairly traditional diamond shape, but the internal structure is what makes it interesting. The Town Hall sits close to the middle, surrounded by several layers of walls and defensive buildings. An attacker can obviously reach the core with the right army, but there is no single wall break that immediately opens the entire village.

For war defense, that is a good starting point.

The Town Hall is protected by an inner defensive ring, with several compartments extending toward the left, right, top, and bottom. Ground troops are likely to encounter multiple defensive targets before they can settle into a clean route through the center. Giants, for example, may move toward a nearby Cannon or Archer Tower while Wizards behind them stop to clear storages and other buildings. A small split like that can become a much bigger problem once the tanks move out of range of their support troops.

The wall design appears intended to encourage this kind of awkward pathing. Instead of one large central box, there are several connected sections with different defensive targets inside them. Opening the outer wall helps, but the attacker still has to decide how to deal with the next compartment.

Splash damage should also play an important role here. Wizard Towers are positioned around different parts of the base rather than being stacked together, while Mortars can cover broader sections from behind the walls. That may punish groups of Wizards, Archers, or other lower-health troops if they gather behind Giants. At TH8, losing a group of support troops early can change an attack very quickly.

The Gold and Elixir Storages are useful for more than just filling space. In Clan War, their resources do not need protection, so their high hit points can be used as defensive buffers. Troops may spend several seconds destroying a storage while nearby defenses continue firing. Those few seconds sometimes make the difference between a healthy army reaching the core and one arriving there already weakened.

Air coverage also appears reasonably spread across the layout. The important anti-air defenses are kept inside the wall structure, which means Dragons or Balloons generally have to travel through defended territory before removing them. Archer Towers add extra coverage from different directions, making it harder to find a completely comfortable air entry.

Another detail worth mentioning is the village's width. Defenses extend across a fairly broad area, and some buildings sit outside the main walls. Those structures can give away easy percentage, which is a genuine weakness, but they can also interfere with funneling. Troops deployed too widely may spend valuable time clearing the perimeter instead of moving toward the Town Hall.

The base is not without risks. Its overall symmetry means an experienced attacker can probably understand the structure after studying it, and a successful push through one side of the core may give access to several important defenses fairly quickly.

Still, the defensive concept is sensible for TH8 Clan War. The layout appears focused on protecting the Town Hall, disrupting troop pathing, spreading splash damage, using storages as delays, and keeping enough defenses alive to create time pressure near the end of the attack. Rather than trying to make entry impossible, it aims to make a clean three-star difficult to execute from start to finish.
