TH8 Clan War Base number 5– Layered Core and Pathing Defense Analysis
What I notice first about this TH8 Clan War base is the shape. It is fairly narrow through the middle and stretches vertically, with the Town Hall sitting inside a protected central section. That creates a different defensive problem from a simple square base: an attacker may get through the first compartment, but keeping the whole army together from one end of the layout to the other is likely to be more difficult.
The Town Hall is not exposed to a quick edge attack. It sits among several inner compartments, with defenses and high-hitpoint buildings around it. The Clan Castle area also appears close to the middle, which is useful in war because defending troops are less likely to be pulled out with one cheap unit placed near the boundary.
The surrounding compartments are probably the most important part of the design. On both the left and right sides, defenses sit behind separate wall sections. A Giant group entering from one angle may lock onto a nearby Cannon or other defense and start moving sideways instead of continuing directly toward the core. Support troops do not always follow the same path, so a slightly messy funnel could split an attack surprisingly early.
The upper half is particularly dense. Elixir and Gold Storages are mixed with defenses rather than pushed completely outside. Since loot protection does not matter in Clan War, those storages effectively become large hitpoint barriers. Troops can spend several seconds hitting one while the defenses behind it continue working. That is especially useful against attacks where Giants tank damage and Wizards follow behind.
Splash damage looks reasonably distributed as well. Wizard Towers are positioned in different sections instead of being grouped together, while Mortars cover broad areas from inside the wall network. If Wizards, Archers, or other support troops gather behind the tanks, a few well-timed splash hits may remove a significant part of the attack.
The lower section has a different job. It stretches the base farther away from the main core and includes another defended pocket rather than ending immediately after the Town Hall. An attacker coming from the top still has meaningful buildings left at the bottom, while someone attacking upward from the bottom has to work through that section before gaining comfortable access to the center. Either route can consume time.
Air defense also appears protected by the compartment structure. The important anti-air buildings are not simply sitting on the outside waiting to be removed. Dragons or Balloons should normally have to enter the base before taking down all of the air coverage, with Archer Towers adding damage from additional angles.
There are some weaknesses. The layout is fairly compact around the Town Hall, so a successful central push could gain good value once the inner walls are opened. Its general symmetry also gives experienced attackers clues about where similar defenses may be positioned.
Still, the overall idea fits Clan War well. This base appears designed less around protecting individual buildings and more around **breaking troop pathing, delaying the core push, preserving defensive fire, and making the final third of an attack harder to finish**. That should make rushed three-star attempts much less comfortable.
