TH8 Clan War Base number 3 – Central Core and Multi-Compartment Defense Analysis

This TH8 Clan War base looks fairly compact at first, but the wall structure makes it less straightforward than a simple box layout. The Town Hall sits close to the middle, surrounded by several separate compartments rather than one large open core. That matters in war, because an attacker cannot break a single wall and suddenly gain access to every important defense.

The central area is probably the strongest part of the design. The Town Hall is protected by multiple defensive zones, while the Clan Castle and other important buildings appear to sit close enough to the core to support the surrounding compartments. A direct push can certainly reach the center, but it is likely to cost troops, wall breaks, or spells along the way.

Ground pathing could be particularly awkward here. The left, right, top, and lower sections each contain their own defensive targets. Giants entering from one side may be pulled toward a Cannon or Archer Tower instead of moving straight toward the Town Hall. Meanwhile, Wizards behind them can stop on storages or other buildings. I've seen plenty of TH8 attacks fall apart from exactly that kind of small pathing mistake—the tanks keep moving while the damage troops get left behind.

The storages are useful defensively as well. Since this is a Clan War layout, protecting Gold and Elixir is not really the point. Their high hit points make them better used as buffers. A Giant group or supporting troops that spend several seconds destroying a storage are giving nearby defenses extra time to fire.

Splash damage appears reasonably distributed around the base. Wizard Towers are placed in different sections rather than being grouped together, while Mortars cover larger areas from deeper positions. That may help against Giant-and-Wizard attacks, especially once the support troops begin bunching up inside the compartments. Barbarians and Archers would have an even harder time surviving concentrated splash damage.

Air attacks are not given a free route either. The Air Defenses sit within the protected structure rather than right beside the deployment edge. Dragons or Balloons will normally need to move through other buildings before removing the main anti-air coverage, and Archer Towers can continue applying damage from several directions.

One detail I like is that the base does not end immediately after the central compartment. Defended sections continue toward the bottom and sides, which can create time pressure. Even if an attacker reaches the Town Hall early, there may still be enough protected buildings left to make the final cleanup uncomfortable.

There are weaknesses, of course. The layout is fairly compact, so a successful push into the core can give an attacker access to several important buildings in a short period. Some outside structures also offer easy percentage, and an experienced TH8 attacker may eventually identify a preferred entry after studying the walls.

Still, the defensive concept makes sense for Clan War. **Central Town Hall protection, repeated compartments, storage-based delays, distributed splash damage, and potentially awkward troop pathing** all work together to make a clean three-star attack harder than the layout first appears.
