TH9 Ranked Base #4: Multi-Compartment Defense Built Around Percentage and Core Control

TH9 Ranked Layout #4 uses a multi-compartment structure with the Town Hall positioned centrally inside the primary defensive core. Looking at the base itself, the design is fairly compact, but it avoids turning the village into one oversized box. The Town Hall, X-Bows, Air Defenses, Wizard Towers, storages, and other important defenses are spread through several connected pockets.

For Ranked play, that makes sense. The base appears designed to pressure more than stars alone. Percentage, troop pathing, and cleanup time all become part of the defensive plan.

The Town Hall anchors the most important section

The Town Hall sits deep inside the central network rather than near an easy outer edge.

That forces an attacker who wants the main objective to commit toward the middle. Even after reaching it, however, several surrounding compartments can remain active. An X-Bow, Air Defense, Wizard Tower, or defending hero left standing on the opposite side may still protect a meaningful amount of percentage.

This is where the layout gets interesting. Taking the Town Hall and comfortably finishing the base are two separate jobs.

Multi-compartment walls can break attack rhythm

The wall structure creates several small defensive pockets around the core.

Once troops enter the village, different targets become available at similar distances. If the funnel is too broad, one group may move sideways while another continues inward.

That split can quickly reduce efficiency.

Hog attacks at TH9 depend heavily on predictable defense-to-defense pathing and good Heal timing. If groups separate across neighboring compartments, one Heal may no longer cover the troops the attacker expected.

Queen Charge LavaLoon faces a different challenge. The Queen phase may remove one Air Defense and create valuable pathing, but the remaining air route still needs to account for defensive coverage elsewhere.

Air coverage is spread across several lanes

TH9 has no Inferno Towers, so the main defensive anchors here are the Air Defenses, X-Bows, Archer Queen, Wizard Towers, Teslas, and point defenses.

The Air Defenses do not sit together in one convenient cluster. That makes them harder to remove through one clean opening and gives different parts of the base independent anti-air value.

This is especially important against LavaLoon, where the route between Air Defenses often matters as much as removing the first one.

Electro Dragons and Miners come from higher Town Hall levels, so for equal-level TH9 attacks, LavaLoon and Hog-based strategies are more realistic counters.

The top edge gives early percentage

The top edge appears to be the easiest place to establish a funnel and collect some outside value.

That does not guarantee an easy finish.

The biggest structural weakness appears when the funnel becomes too wide and the main army begins splitting between adjacent compartments. If the attacker controls that split deliberately, several areas can be pressured at once. If not, troops may finish in awkward positions and cleanup can become the real problem.

Why Layout #4 fits Ranked

The strongest quality of TH9 Ranked Base #4 is the tension between accessible outer percentage and the harder route through the middle.

The central Town Hall pressures stars, the compartment network disrupts troop concentration, and the separated defensive sections keep percentage relevant late into the attack.
