TH9 Ranked Base #6: Multi-Compartment Defense Built Around Percentage and Pathing Control

TH9 Ranked Layout #6 uses a multi-compartment structure with the Town Hall sitting slightly toward the left side of the core. Looking at the actual base, its defensive plan seems broader than simply protecting the Town Hall. Important defenses, storages, and percentage buildings are spread across several pockets, which means an attacker may clear one section comfortably without gaining an equally clean route through everything behind it.

For Ranked play, that makes sense. The layout appears designed to keep stars, percentage, troop positioning, and cleanup time relevant throughout the raid.

The Town Hall is important, but not the only defensive anchor

The Town Hall sits inside the stronger central network rather than near an exposed edge.

Its slight left-side offset creates a bit of asymmetry. Once troops enter the middle, they may find attractive targets in more than one direction. A hero group could continue toward the Town Hall while another part of the army drifts into a neighboring compartment.

That kind of separation is useful defensively. Even if the Town Hall eventually falls, surviving X-Bows, Air Defenses, Wizard Towers, Teslas, and the defending Archer Queen can still protect percentage elsewhere.

The compartment layout rewards good pathing—and punishes bad pathing

The walls divide the village into many small sections rather than one oversized core.

That may force attacking troops to make repeated target decisions. If the funnel is too wide, one group can enter a side compartment while another continues inward. Suddenly the attack is clearing two different areas at two different speeds.

For TH9, that is particularly relevant against Hog-based attacks. Hogs work best when their route is predictable and Heal Spells can cover large groups. Once they split between adjacent defensive sections, spell efficiency drops quickly.

Queen Charge LavaLoon also looks like a realistic counter, but the Queen phase would need to remove the right Air Defense and create a useful flight path afterward.

Air coverage matters more than Inferno pressure at TH9

An important detail: TH9 does not have Inferno Towers. The real defensive anchors here are the Air Defenses, X-Bows, Archer Queen, Wizard Towers, Teslas, and surrounding point defenses.

The Air Defenses are not placed in one easy cluster. Their separation means an air attacker has to deal with several coverage zones rather than removing everything through one simple entry.

Miner Hybrid and Electro Dragons are not native TH9 options, so they are better viewed as threats from higher-level attackers rather than equal-level TH9 counters.

The top edge is the clearest opening

The top edge appears to offer the easiest funnel and some relatively safe early percentage.

The main weakness comes when that funnel becomes too wide. Multiple compartments can come under pressure at once, which may reduce the value of the base's layered structure.

Still, there is a defensive tradeoff: a wide entry can also scatter troops. If the attacker loses control of that split, cleanup may become the bigger problem.

Why Layout #6 works for Ranked

The strongest quality of TH9 Ranked Base #6 is the separation between the main objective and comfortable cleanup.

The offset Town Hall pressures stars, the multi-compartment core disrupts troop concentration, and the distributed defensive sections keep percentage relevant late into the raid.
