TH9 Ranked Base #8: Multi-Compartment Defense Built Around Percentage and Pathing Control

TH9 Ranked Layout #8 uses a multi-compartment structure with the Town Hall placed centrally inside the main defensive core. Looking at the actual base, what stands out is how separated the major defensive sections are. The Town Hall, X-Bows, Air Defenses, Wizard Towers, storages, and hero positions do not all sit inside one oversized central box. Instead, the village is broken into several pockets that can remain useful even after another section has already fallen.

For Ranked play, that is a sensible approach. The layout seems designed to pressure stars, total percentage, troop movement, and cleanup time, rather than betting everything on keeping one building alive.

The Town Hall anchors the middle

The Town Hall sits inside the primary defensive network, which gives the center a clear objective for the attacker.

Getting there, however, is not quite the same as solving the rest of the base. Several defensive compartments sit away from the Town Hall route, so troops that commit heavily to the middle may leave useful defenses and percentage standing around the sides.

That separation could become especially annoying late in the raid. An army may secure the Town Hall and still finish with heroes or cleanup troops in the wrong part of the village.

The compartment shape can disrupt troop flow

The wall layout is probably the most important defensive feature of Base #8.

Instead of creating one continuous path through the center, the base repeatedly gives troops several nearby targets. If the funnel is loose, one group can move through a side compartment while another continues toward the core.

That kind of split matters against Hog or Miner Hybrid-style attacks, where predictable movement makes spell timing much easier. If groups arrive at defenses at different moments, Heal value drops and the surviving towers get longer firing windows.

Queen Charge LavaLoon also needs a careful setup. Removing one side with the Queen may look attractive, but the remaining air route still has to account for Air Defenses positioned on different lanes.

Air coverage is spread rather than concentrated

At TH9 there are no Inferno Towers, so the important defensive anchors here are the Air Defenses, X-Bows, Archer Queen, Wizard Towers, Teslas, and surrounding splash damage.

The Air Defenses do not appear grouped into one easy section. That helps the layout resist a simple “remove one compartment and fly through the rest” approach.

A higher-level attacker could potentially exploit compact pockets with Electro Dragons, but an equal-level TH9 attack would more realistically rely on LavaLoon, Hogs, or other TH9-available armies.

The top edge gives early value, but not necessarily an easy finish

The top edge appears to be the most comfortable place to establish a funnel and collect some outside percentage.

The risk for the defense comes when that funnel becomes too wide. Multiple compartments can open at once, allowing the attacker to pressure several sections simultaneously.

There is a tradeoff, though. A wide entry can also scatter troops, and that is where time pressure begins to matter.

Why Layout #8 works for Ranked

The strongest quality of TH9 Ranked Base #8 is that it tries to influence the entire raid.

The central Town Hall pressures stars, the compartment layout interferes with troop concentration, and the separated defensive sections help preserve percentage deeper into the attack.
